Hi, I have a 1979 Devon Monnraker 2.0ltr type 4 Cu engine that I rebuilt about 4 or 5 years ago and put Webber ICT carbs on it from Eurocarb in Reading. I had my solex carbs refurbished ready to refit but the Webber’s have been running well so I never got round to putting them back. I am now planning on having my Webber’s rejected as I have been told they are wrong and retuned so the question is whether it is worth spending the money on the ICT’s or put the Solex ones back? It’s not necessarily a money thing, which is the better set-up in the humble opinion of the forum?

    Thanks,

  2. I've been thinking of solex or itc for my 1800 type 4 for a while, the only and sole reason I want to go down the itc route is because of wayouywestie.

His write up and videos on the itc's are great.

Don't get my wrong happy to be proven different on the solex but they just seem more complicated to me.

Thanks, yes it his articles that I have viewed and I am having it re-jetted by him and he seems great and really knowledgable and it seems correctly set-up they are a better option, having got them now and running relatively well it will be interesting to see how they perform when properly set-up,

    Thanks.....

  4. Many people have different opinions on original solex or ict weber. The solex set up was probably better when the van was newer but difficult to find any now that are not worn out.

  5. Mike (wayoutwestie) rebuilt and re-jetted my ICT's last year. top bloke, really knows his stuff, recommend him 100%.

My Solex’s have Been rebuilt and refurbished by Stateside tuning and look brand new so I would have thought they would back to their best but I take your point. Thanks for the recommendation of Mike I am really happy about my dealings with him and as you say his articles and knowledge are fantastic so at the moment I still think the best way is the re-jetted ict’s as they run ok now so I’m sure will be much better once Mike gets to work on them,

    Thanks.......
