  1. Is there an NCP sign outside your house?

Very close to punching the guy last Friday.
Took Mrs C fiat 500 she has had from new and the guy was out with a magnifying glass telling me how bad it was. Knocked £860 off the valuation. So I sorted a spray guy out who quoted £138 to sort the bits he had mentioned.
Got told by a trade guy that they take all the cars that are mechanically shot so WBAC assume it's the case with all of them.

  3. I put a car on gumptree,
and it was sold and gone,
    driven away, in 45 mins.

Local buyer... needed a car asap..

  4. At this time, you would be better off keeping what you have, rather than giving it away for a knockdown price and then replacing the car with something unknown and for more money.

They're owned by British Car Auctions and all the cars go through their auction sites. When I first retired I used to work a few of days a month at the Peterborough site preparing and riding the bikes through and for a laugh we'd look at the "We Buy Any Car" lots and see what they paid and what the reserves were. Unbelievable how much they were marking them up, there'd be a mixture of right old tat and very nice cars. The best one was a Williams Renault, they'd paid £18K and the reserve was £27K, it actually fetched £31K and the dealer that bought it probably put it up for around £35K.

The good thing with their app is you can put in the reg of your car, and completely make up your name, email, and postcode, just to get the valuation.
That way you have a laugh at the insulting price they give you, without all the annoying emails afterwards :)
Apparently my daily is worth £250.... think I’ll keep it....

I love WBAC. They ******* off everybody with their ridiculous offers, which leaves plenty of scope for me to swoop in and offer a few hundred quid more... sellers happy, I can still get a cheap car..

If only people would try and sell campers to them...

  8. I've not tried 'em but would probably scrap a cheapo car than give them the satisfaction of making a few quid thereby encouraging their parasitic practices.
Lady Lastys ma has an '02 318 beemer auto , one owner , immaculate , fully loaded , fsh etc etc . Less than 20k on the clock and she wanted to px it for a spanking new beemer - fully loaded , self parking , top of the range .
    They offered her £200 .

No matter how great a condition , used cars are worthless...

  9. Actually just sold my 16 golf r line to them as buying a house and car was on finance, (was that or sell the bay!) first offer was ridiculous then they kept upping it some. (Think someone wanted it?)They did knock 500 off the valuation price for stone chips short mot etc. But I did get trade price which is always at least couple of grand under what dealers sell for. Was very quick and easy but still waiting and praying for finance to clear!
At least I’ve not gotta pay stamp duty tho

  10. If you're happy that's fine - I wouldn't be letting them sort out the finance though , what could possibly go wrong ??

Please don't be offended by my offers

  12. You were lucky! After his dad died my mate tried to sell his old Zafira so put it on Facebook marketplace as his mum wanted it off the drive. He was only asking £400 just to get shot of it, he had loads of calls offering to swap it for amongst other things a Fiesta, a motorbike and even an Xbox but no actual money:D
The only bloke who offered cash said he'd give him the asking price if he would deliver it to Banbury that afternoon....

  16. It’s illegal to sell a car on finance so buyer has to buy it off finance company as you don’t own it!

  17. I remember that being the case years ago but don't know the current regs - call me old fashioned but if I can't afford to pay for anything outright I won't buy it .
So really you sold it on behalf of the finance company ??
Bonkers world we live in !

  18. Same as ours - be interested to see how much you get for it - we paid £12k for ours 5 years ago - now with 60k on the clock - but usually keep our daily for 10 years to get our money's worth out of it.
