  1. Hello again in a new thread.

I think that that bus deserves a new thread. I imported from the states in to our little, beautiful country of Slovenia in this end of August. The plan was to make it drive in one single month. But after many problems with delivery of spare parts and some partners who can't manage to get the things done by time, we had to delay our trip on next summer.

About the bus? his name is Bine =) I found it on The samba ads. At first i wasn't sure do i want it or not. In our country we have biggest problems with buerocracy. In the end i was waiting for all the papers and documents more than one month. After everything was done by my side. Where was i? Am... yes... as you can see, at the end i decited to buy the bus. And after a phonecall with seller we manage to arrange everything that involves shipping and payment. Everything went smooth to this point. With one of our transport companies who transports campervans from our Adria to Rotterdam i have arranged pick up. But i still don't know what went wrong. I called their superior Two days before pickup, a day before and everything was fine... till the pickup day. I phoned him if everything went ok. And his answear? That the driver is already in Slovenia but without the bus. Because he forgot to give him additional papers we have wait to our vw additional week more.

    And then this story beggins...

First just two photos from TheSamba

Hope you get all the paperwork sorted out and your bus arrives soon.
Have you got an engine to put in it.

  3. @sANDYbAY i have manage to sort everything out but that took me more than 1 month. It is registered as oldtimer, in this case i can't change anything, everything must be original. That was told to me, when i got to Homologation, sorting out importing papers. But then... when i want to register the car, they told me that i need to change headlights, weld the side lights.... and so on and so on. Noone realy know what do you have to do to make this car road legal.

The engine i got from VW T3, only 53000km on clock. I'll write about it in the evening

  5. Hi from Lancashire UK - looks like that project is going to keep you and your wallet busy for a few months - good luck. Oh and congratulations on your good English.

  6. @poptop2 thank you, but if you notice i am not new in this forum :) I also have one more thread about mine project t2 with t3 chassis

@cunny44 i am doing my best. And i think the best way to speak any foreign language fluently is simply to talk or write. This project started in august, now this bay is already driving and is register but i want to present you the whole path that is needed to make things right in Slovenia.

Even before the bus arrived in slovenia, we bought t3 panel van with cu, type 4, 2.0 liter engine. The bus had a bit more then 50k km on the clock, the only problem was that it wouldnt started. After taking it out the van we disasemble the engine. The both heads were in great condition, only valve seats werea bit worn. Best thing ever was camshaft... In horrible state....

  8. @lost-en-france i would preffer mint condition. Next spring is on schedule a ful body respray, in and out. Ofcourse in original color.

I also need to find a suplier for "furiner", a thin wood for cabinets. One door is missing and the two cabinets are not in top condititon. And also need to reupholster front seats and rear rock'n roll bed. Does anyone knows how much m2 of vinly do i need for this kind of job?

  11. We disasamble the alternator and starter motor apart. Acutally both were in raither good condition. I have replaced contacts and lathe collector. The housing was sandblasted.

And now we step to the engine.

Despite the camshaft was worn out we simply replace it and use old ring. It was not in bad state. So i reused it. But when i was trying to bolt the ring and camshaft together i notice that the bolts are not metric. And where the hell i can get american bolts? I simply couldn't find them in our stores. And not in just any kind of shop... in shop with bolts and nuts, and that is it. Then i remembered that an old lathe operator near me could have those cutting jaws. And we simply cut a new tread in a bolt and that was it.
I use Schadek oil pump but it didn't fit. I have to machine the shaft and pressed in to a pressure ring. A little bit of cutting and then it slides in perfectly. We have also changed all bearings on mainshaft as on camshaft. I use Kolbenschmidt. Also in race cars and till now i have only really good experience. The mainshaft was messured at first with micrometer and it was within the tolerance.

  12. Looks like the motor is coming along great. In the pictures the sides and the bearings seem quite dry. Don't forget to lube everything as you put it together, even as you slide the bearings in place etc. I can't wait to see how things come together for you.
    Oh and Merry Christmas!!!

  13. @midmusq i know that =) everything was lubed before assembly. On pictures i had to modefied oil pump to fit and that's why i didn't lube everything.

I also assembled all lifters and put the engine together. Before that i also lapped the valves and cylinders. I have used original pistons, new piston rings. The barrels were machined. I recieved new clutch from my sponsor and brake pads.

  16. One last update this year.

We rebuild axles and transmission. Because we had only starter motor from VW t25 i need to reweld mounting ears. After that the starter was perfect fit in latebay

Besides all of those things the engine mount was missing. New is not cheap so i made it by my self at first in Solidworks... then my friend cut it by laser. I just need to weld it together
