  1. read on all is explain what a load of bull

Don’t panic! Although we’ll still be able to supply our full range of parts for your VW Camper or Beetle, it’s with great regret that we announce that from Friday, 25th November, www.justbeetles.com and www.justbeetles.co.uk will no longer be accessible.

Instead, the site is incorporated into the www.justkampers.com website where – with undented enthusiasm – we will continue to provide the same quality and variety of parts and accessories for your VW Beetle if you choose us as your supplier.

Volkswagen AG, of Wolfsburg, Germany, has asserted its right to the trademark ‘Beetle’ and has served notice on Just Kampers Ltd to prevent us using the domain name for our website. You can find the full letter from VW at the following address: http://www.justkampers.com/vw-letter.pdf

I must say that having worked with VW worldwide for the last 18 years of our 22 years of trading, I was a bit disappointed. However, it will not dent the enthusiasm of either myself – or my team at JK – for owning, driving and supplying spares for the cars and Campers.

For you, our fellow VW enthusiasts, the change will make little difference. We are still totally committed to helping you keep your VW on the road. The products you’ll find on our www.justkampers.com site on Monday will be the same as those you’ll see on www.justbeetles.com on Friday!

  2. Not really bull. VW get a bit too shirty IMO, but in an automotive environment "Beetle" is their registered trademark.

  3. Maybe vw didnt like the poor quality of the parts being sold under there name

Vw is a time and tested strong quality brand after all

  4. They do tend to pursue this stuff quite aggressively. Might have noticed that the VW logo has vanished from all the ceramic mugs, campers, eggcups, t-shirts...

  5. must agree with you there but seems a bit extreme i mean will the film beetlejuice be chaned to bugjuice and that not all famous group with some bloke called lennon and mcCartney have to change the name to the bugs as well as apprently they own the beetle trademark name

I'm not impressed with JK at the moment, we ordered some westy roof parts..the website says 7 working days turnaround as they are special order..none refundable. We ordered 26th October and have yet to receive the parts, I have chased the parts up several times to either get a non returned phone call, no recollection of them chasing up or the latest version, the guy making them is on holiday!

That is sad for you guys at Just...... but I can't help but dislike VW a bit for this kind of power play. Beetle is beetle and a creature of nature. Are they going to make the world change that?? And then there is Golf for example. It's a game. Are they going to claim rights to this name and make the game be called "putt sticks" or something. It drives me mad.

I wouldn't mind but the company even have rights to the alphabet :) STU-VW-XYZ. Will they make us change that?? My name is in there too but I'll let you still use it. I'm that sort of person :)

  15. I know when I start buying brand new panels and can't get them second hand, There's only one place i'm going and its not jk. Schofields seems to be the only place worth going, And from talking to other people they'll even tell you if it's not a great fit and needs abit of tweaking!!!

As for VW surely they can't copyright such a name. I'm sure if you fought it in court they wouldn't win. And I alway's thought copyright only lasted for so long.??

  16. Nothing stopping you calling an insect (or maybe a trouser press, or coffee machine) a beetle, or golf...golf. If you call a car a beetle or golf, hardly a surprise if you get a c&d letter from vws lawyers, however.

VW do have a rep for heavy handedness, but maybe they turn a blind eye unless they can't ignore it. JK's letter implies they tried to register just beetles as a trademark, which I'd think is certain to kick things off.
