WANTED VW 2.4D Engine for T4

I'm just going to buy the tool. It's only 30 quid - knowing my luck I'd do more costly damage trying any other way

 

I flicked the starter to undo the bolt, I'm amazed it worked having found out how tight it was. I stuck a bar in the flywheel to nip it back up. Was worried some thing might break but it all went back ok. The fun bit was setting the lift on the fuel pump at tdc with the other belt. Not done one before. Before it would shake on start up and produce loads of smoke. It's spot on now. Hope you get yours sorted

 

Cheers buddy. Don't suppose you have a photo as to where you stick the bar in the flywheel. And what sorta bar come to think of it?

I'm assuming you just lock something against the ring gear?

 

Nice n simple. All my crowbars are just too big for the hole.

 

Massive thanks to @Rich83 assisting in getting that insane bolt off and @davidoft spending a couple of hours talking me through the strip and inspection of this engine yesterday. Top blokes

Like to see how this one goes as my mate is on the look out to replace his 'foooowked' t4 diesel engine.

 

My daughter has just had a recon fitted for around £3.5k
Reputable builder/installer and included clutch, slave cylinder and set of injectors but still
She really likes her t4
I feel bad but just didn't have the time to get involved!

 

I'll start a thread in My Other Rides section (or whatever it's called). But the head came off today and it's not as bad as it first seemed

 

I may have one for sale as my original engine may go again yet.

I bought a second engine the same time I bought this Bus but as the original engine has only done 73k I really want to keep it in there.
