VIN Plate historic registration

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by ADS125, Feb 18, 2019.

  1. Hi everyone

Has anyone registered their T2 as a historic vehicle ? The DVLA only have the year of registration on mine which is 1979 looking at the VIN she is manufactured before April. To get the V5 updated they told me I need to prove when it was manufactured has anyone managed to do this ? You can buy an official birth certificate but was hoping to get away without doing that if it’s possible. Any help would be much appreciated?

    Cheers

  3. My Bay was manufactured in August 1979 but first registered in the UK in April 1980. I'm NOT looking forward to it's "final" MOT in April..... o_O

Hi, I sent an email to type.approval@vwg.co.uk with details of my bus ie reg and chassis number etc and my address and I was advised that VW will send me a “Dating Letter” with the date my late bay was produced, which i’ll Use to prove my production date for the historic tax. The information comes from the Wolfsburg Museum Germany

My late bay was first registered 1.3.1980 on a W plate.
    Production: 23.05.1979 in Hanover, Germany

Further further information can be provided by contacting the Museum direct - history@volkswagen.de

  7. Just to clarify. I've recently paid VEH (£255) up to the end of February 2020. Under the rules, have I "overpaid" and if so how do I get a partial refund??

I’m thinking that you would apply for a refund of VEH as you would normally ie when selling a car or declaring SORN, then you should receive a refund of any full months VEH
