Hi. I bought a Viking a few days ago & got the chance to open up the pop top yesterday for a proper inspection. Now I know that the Viking is smaller than the Super Viking upstairs but all the pics I find on the net just show the Super Viking (beds all the way round) images. All I have in mine is a fixed padded bed above the cab area, which is in line with the small window & is covered in white vinyl which also stretches right to the ends (widthways). It looks original as does the roof canvas. But that's it. There is a two piece sliding double bed in the rear roof area but to be honest looks like a makeshift kinda thing to me. Its made of ply & the runners are just a pair of 2x2 screwed to the roof opening sides. This isn't how they are is it ? If not....... what should be there, bed wise ? Its a RHD 75 by the way. It's two roll out hammocks on each side lengthways. You should have a pair of U shaped brackets on the front and rear wooden bulk head type thing. This is where the hammocks slot into. These, I believe, are non detachable so if you don't have them then someone has cut them out. mt9876 has this setup, might be worth asking him for a few photos too.
WOW thanks a lot you guys. Super fast......... Just ran out in the rain to have a look & yep, your both right. There are U shaped marks on the end panels with screw holes where the slot in hammocks must have once been. So it looks like mine might be known as a "Spacemaker" Viking conversion. Cool. I'll contact "Lowie" & "mt9876" & see if they have pics of theirs. Looks like i'll be on the lookout for these hammocks now. Someone must have some, somewhere ?
The guy looks relaxed and comfortable while the lass is hunched over with the tilt of the roof. Some things are just right ;D
