Hi all I’ve just fitted a 2.0 cj code engine with upright cooling dog house beetle cooler plus 30row external cooler. I’ve got 4 litres of oil in there now and it barely touches the dipstick. Should I put more in or not trust the aftermarket dipstick?
Depends how much is in the cooler and supply pipes and yes whether you trust the dipstick. I also wonder how level the engine is in a bug?
If you have one of the overpriced FRAM HP-1 filters theres a litre in there..with the Mann W719/5 about half that plus the cooler plus pipes is another litre or two . So my setup is stock plus 2 to stock plus 1.5 litre with 5 metres of hose and a 24 row cooler. Buying 5L of oil, theres a bit left over instead of two complete changes on a T1 .. .I know you have a T4 engine.. may be worth finding a friend with a T4 and borrowing the dipstick..
