Type 4 engine initial oil pressure on startup

Discussion in 'How To' started by 75tintop, Jan 3, 2016.

  1. Opinions please just fitted my 2 litre type 4 and cranking for oil pressure , oil light not going out after cranking for 20 seconds

Just rebuilt the top end but have not disturbed bottom end pump ect

How long is it reasonable to expect pressure to build ?

Any other checks for oil flow ?

I thought about pulling the filter off and waiting for flow out of that to confirm all good

Sensor was fine 2 months ago when motor removed

Yes, bliddy things - I'd do as you suggest and confirm oil feeding filter, you'll probably then find it gets pressure very quickly after putting it back on. You did fill the filter?

  3. Yes mate but agree gonna take filter off and also is it worth taking oil pressure sender off n putting some oil down there ?

I don't think you'll need to. If you have the plugs out you won't hurt it. It'll only need the briefest turn to get oil out of the filter fitting, then you're away.
Or you might find elec problem, but better to be cautious.
