Morning all Sent my engine case to the local blasters for vapour blasting and the idiot soda blasted it because his vapour machine wasn’t working, destroying the mounting for the cooling flaps. Therefore after a replacement top part of the case. Hopefully one out there.... Many thanks Rich
For one thing, the flap linkage on the oil cooler side has been twanged the wrong way. Twang it back where it should be. Also you're missing a small steel plate that stops the nylon guide jumping out. The housing looks good to me.
Soda blasting wouldn’t have damaged it but it should have been disassembled first. If the pic is your fan housing, I can’t see what has been ‘destroyed’, just replace the missing bit and put it together correctly.
The rod for the flaps sets in a recess if that’s your issue. It isn’t cast all the way around and has a spring steel part that holds it in place. I’m guessing it’s that threaded bit that your referring to. Haven’t done a bodge for that myself but doable by drilling and tapping what’s there I’d say!
