SORTED Type 4 2 litre cylinder needed - ordered a full new set

While stripping down my CU engine I had no 3 cylinder stuck to the head. In removing it the liner has cracked and bits of cooling fin come off. Does anyone have either a spare cylinder, or a liner/piston set, they could sell me? I am reluctant to buy a full set, all the pistons and other liners are fine and working well. They are stock pistons, measuring 93.98mm. Thanks

 

I have a spare 94mm cylinder you could have – but it’s in France.

 

Here it is alongside a 96mm Biral cylinder.

If you decide to change just one cylinder make sure it is the same length as the others: you may have to trim one, or three.

 

Good point, but I am hoping any height differences will be small and within the scope of cylinder shims.

 

You could do it that way but the selection of cylinder shim thicknesses is rather limited – you could always make your own if necessary.
