  1. Yeah they were pretty cool, wish I kept them really lol.
I fully agree, so glad I went! Loved the racing and there was some rather nice buses in the show wasn't there.
What show will you be going to next?

  2. we have bawt tickets for spit and polish not far either . its a general show so steam engines and vintage cars but good value .

  3. I do love a show with steam engines! Have you ever been to the festival of transport? It's just out the back of hailsham in August!
I think my next show will be stonor park now.

  4. just a quick update to keep the thread alive!

I loose track of whats been done as im out in the garage a few times a week doing bits and bobs as well as wednesday nights (project night) that always stretches into the early hours [IMG]

  8. No worries buddy!
yeah its good one, been going since i was a kid!
I haven't really taken any pictures lately Im afraid, the bus is in the middle of the garage on axel stands at the moment and theres hardly any room either side to get a decent picture haha. Once iv finished painting underneath we will be running all new brake lines and rebuilding the drums etc etc and then it will be back on its wheels and i can roll her out of the garage :)

  10. As always it's been a while haha.
I have been working on the bus but always forget to update.
Pretty much finished welding on the bus now, need to finish skinning a cab door and a sliding door but the bus itself is now rot free and solid as a rock
On the drivers side there was rot on the chassis behind the shock tower so as we were cutting it out we got carried away and this happened....... Won't be everyone's cuppa but I'm making the bus how I want it ;)

Got through some cutting disk making these haha

We didn't remove the whole chassis so it didn't move or twist. Had to cut the lip off so that was welded back up along the top there (not finished grinding flat in this pic)

The braces have all been modified and welded back in now, will get a pic of them soon.

The outer plate blends into the shock tower so once it's sealed and painted it should look pretty good!

Tried to make it flow in and look as natural as possible..... I'm pretty happy with the outcome and there's certainly a lot more metal in the area now than what I cut out so it's definitely strong enough.
I finished rust proofing underneath at the rear today so it should be primed and seam sealed this week, once it's all painted il post a pic!

  12. It's been a while, I gave up with my threads last year but We have still been slaving away in the garage.
I'm at a good stage now, the bus is solid and all the welding and filling is complete!! She's off to the paint shop in 3 or 4 weeks so it's get exciting now!
Everything underneath has been overhauled with new parts etc. Gearbox has had new seals etc, engine has had new b&p's and the heads cleaned with valves re seated etc.
As always I have been rubbish with taking pics but here's a couple from the last few months.
This photo was taken quite a while ago now

I'm afraid I don't really have many photos, but I have still been working on the old girl! Wednesday nights are still project night and my cousin is still coming round every week :)

  15. Well, it's been a long old road but the bus is now at the paint shop
It went week before last and I will be picking it up this coming week and I can't wait to see it!!
Iv had a few teaser pics sent to me which il post below.
while the bus has been away Iv been making the most of an empty garage and worked on the engine. It's had the heads cleaned and valves ground in etc. New barrels, pistons and rings along with a new gasket set and the main rear crank seal. All the tin and parts have been cleaned and rust proofed then painted. The block has been cleaned and left raw. Aiming for a tidy stock look.
The Gearbox also had new seals front and back with a new clutch lever rebuild kit.
All new cv joints and boots on the shafts etc etc.
Once its back and the re esemble starts il take some more pics.
    Here's a couple for now

  17. The rebuild is taking its time
Unfortunately the bus came to me stripped with all the parts in boxes.....and as you can imagine there's plenty of bits missing or broken!
I have just bought a full bus stainless nut and bolt set which will help.
I also started to plug the new loom into the fuse box etc last week which has proven to be a lot more confusing than first thought
101 one things to do but at least it looks better now :)

  18. Wicked mate I loved this stage the most, rebuilding it all, with new or refurbed parts that I'd taken time to restore :)

Good luck it's looking great, but be careful around that new paint!

  19. Cheers mate!!
I'm actually hating this part at the moment haha. Every job I start has to be left as something is missing or broken! I Seem to have loads of small jobs started but nothing finished and it's driving me crazy.
I really want to drive it now!!
And Iv already chipped the paint a treat :(
