The best thing about the resto taking so long is that it gives me a chance to save and buy good parts and the parts that I want

Iv also bought a Slamwerks 4 inch k&l full conversion beam with dropped spindles and slam shocks for the front and adjustable plates and slam shocks for the rear

  6. Cheers! I will do my best with the pics.
I have so many photos on my computer but mostly boring stuff haha

  7. i fitted new riggers all round also 2 months ago

  8. make sure you use seam sealer on any new welds, before painting them
Looks like you'll have a good solid bus once you're done....it's the best way to learn

  9. Will do I plan to red oxide the whole underneath as well then paint it and finally underseal the whole lot when it's done! I want it to last!!
I agree with you there, I'm really fortunate to have my cousin coming to my garage to do it as I'm learning so much and it's safe to say when I buy another bay in the future I will definitely know what to look for haha

  10. Sweet! It's really satisfying looking underneath and seeing new metal isn't it!!

  13. Cheers chaps!!
Just off out inn the garage now to get on with some work! Hoping to get the near side rear inner arch rebuilt tonight, it's more than likely going to be a late one!!

  14. Managed to get the inner arch rebuilt last night, and the both closing panels inn. Then we got far to carried away and started tacking a raised tub inn without the door on, I had to un pick it this afternoon as the door was just about touching it when closed haha!

Here's the new b post, arch and outer sill we done last week very happy with the b post now compared to how it was.

  15. Update time!!
Since rebuilding the inner rear arch we have also fitted the outer skin its all welded on and ready for grinding!
Have also welded inn one of the raised front tubs which needed a fair bit of fabrication to make it fit, needs finishing underneath but that will be done when the beams out.
My cousin re pinned the engine lid hinges for me so we put the lid back on and then welded the outer valance on.
Also started to repair one of the cab doors, the previous owner had re skinned it but not very well so that has been un picked and taken back off, we repaired the bottom of the door so once the outer skin has been primed and painted (was put on bare!!) on the inside that can be re fitted.
I also had to cut off the new rear corner that someone previously had made a mess of!! New one was ordered today so hopefully that will be here early next week and we can get that welded on next Wednesday!
I think that's it for now..... I haven't taken many pics as usual but here's a couple :)

My cousin nice and snug underneath again haha

  17. Good luck with finding a pair of solid sliders.....RHD ones are like hens teeth and even beat up solid ones fetch up to £500. LHD ones are a bit easier to source thanks to all the imports knocking about now but still fetch good money.
I had a LHD microbus door already fitted to mine when I got it, but sourcing a RHD one to match took months, and I still ended up with one that needs the bottom welding up (although at £120 it was pretty cheap and had the Glass, handle, mechs etc still).
Ignore the naysayers......twin sliders are every bit as good as a regular single door van for camping! I kitted mine out well, and its been a great camper.....been away in it loads. Plus if you open the unit side door you effectively have a serving hatch so always have the option of running it as a tea bus at shows hahaha :D

  18. Me and a mate welded new floor pans into my old bug on the street outside my house, not something I fancy doing again on the road.

Same mates brother has got his camped down the side of their mums gaff at the mo but it will be moving soon as he's just bought a new house with a garage etc. I've already booked my van in for me and my mate to pull the engine sort the gear rod bushes, access the fuel tank & change all the breathers & filler pipe

I'm happy to work outdoors but it's a real pain doing stuff in the road, nearly had my legs mashed a couple of times working under the camper

I'm keeping the old lady sweet over the road as she has a massive garden to the side of her house, I'm hoping it will get too much for her, then I could buy a strip of it to create an off road parking area that would do me a treat

  19. Me too. I got a twin slider as a bit of a compromise because it was a RHD int he best shape body-wise and ready to use. Wouldn't swap it for a single door one now (well, I've done too much to it now!).

Twin sliders can accommodate 2 awnings too. ;)
