Porsche Varioram. The longer stacks and manifold length, the better low down torque, the shorter the more high end power. Porsche Varioram was a vacuum operated mechanism to vary the combined length of the stack and manifolds.

 

Yeah - but, my rev range is so small I doubt I personally would see any measurable difference.

I did and I stuck mine on due to theory and never noticed any change, but they do stop things falling down the holes.
