Is it today that it’s a big day over on the other side of that big old pond ??? Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, In Amiracle
30 years ago today we lost Steffi, our beautiful German Shephard - choked on a rubber ball at the park and died in my arms.
Still a very vivid, painful memory, I managed to flag down a passing police car who blue lighted us to the nearest vet, but she died in my arms on the back seat of the police car.
Aw gawd mate that's awful. I've never been that sentimental about pets - we have cats - but our very small and pretty tabby Fudge who isn't even an adult got hit by a car, and she had to have an amputation. No insurance (we have it now!) so we stumped up the £3k cost. Ever since then I've felt guilty for not going for full reconstructive surgery (£6k) and she is still wearing a cone 8 weeks later. I see her in that cone and feel very bad.
Same happened to one of mine, he lost a back leg and woke up with no knackers either, he was a bit tetchy... but he was fine, his tail bushed up to balance him, he could jump from the ground onto a 6ft fence pole. I think a front one would be worse, he was just fine even though his other femur was held together with a self tapper from an earlier escapade.
