The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) introduced World First Aid Day in 2000. Every year, more than 100 Red Cross and Red Crescent Society people are made aware of the benefits of first aid in the world. On 24 June 1859, Henry Dunant, a young Geneva businessman, witnessed horrifying suffering and agony following the battle of Solferino. He secured them with the necessary materials and supplies and helped in the establishment of temporary hospitals. His book “A Memory of Solferino” inspired the establishment of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 1863. Watch out at Techenders - we don't want any dangerous spannering going on.
I did a first aid course in the Army it was brilliant 14 days learning all the first aid techniques we could even send for a make up kit plastercine to make wounds ,fake blood and pumps to ooze or show arterial wounds. We went to the butchers and got intestines to simulate stomach wounds. Had people throwing up at the sight. Good training I have put to use quite often.
