I like the idea of a get together at Malvern, its closer to the centre of England than Portsmouth...

The site has changed hands now. It was a bit of a slog to get there, even from Cheshire.

  4. "You'll never please all the people all the time" as the saying goes...
What gets me is when someone goes to the trouble of organising a 'do' and there's always the 'can't you make it a week later/earlier crew ??
    No - that's the date !!!
Another bug bearer is the fools who nearer the date drop out because their phone says it might rain .....
Chose a location and a date , if folk want to go they will and if they don't you'll still be having a weekend away.
Not at all local but the Malvern site seems a great option with an inside area if the weather doesn't play ball

  5. Malvern is a lovely place for a meet. I often go to places in wintery times, camping bivvying or whatever. Main thing (for me) is it had to be active , as it’s too cold to just sit around all day. So good long hilly walks and stuff, fire all evening (or in the pub). Nice to just sit and read or something in the summer, but our cold wet winters are in a different league altogether.

  7. Seems like more than a passing interest in this so I'll make some more enquiries.

  8. Provisional info:
    • 25th Feb
    • We would have the entire field to ourselves
    • There are 26 leccy hook ups with own water point.
    • The rest of the park would be closed to anyone else except us and they would open the club house just for us where there is a bar and food.
    • Has a fairly extensive park in the same field for the kiddies and drunk amongst us...
    • Heated shower blocks and toilets
I'll let you know prices etc and then people can let me know if this of interest to them.

  10. Ok some changes but more firm info:
    • 4th March
    • We would have the entire field to ourselves
    • There are 26 leccy hook ups with own water point.
    • The rest of the park would be semi-closed to anyone else except us and they would open the club house for us where there is a bar, food, pool etc
    • Has a fairly extensive play park in the same field for the kiddies and drunk amongst us...
    • Heated shower blocks and toilets
    • The Alapaca Tea Rooms are 5 min walk along the river. We did this last weekend and they serve amazing food with amazing views. They also offer private fishing in their lakes etc.
Price wise it would be £18 per van per night regardless of occupants. No arrive by or leave by times. Just arrive and leave as you wish.

Let me know if anyone is interested. I appreciate its less Winter Camp Out than titled but they have work to do on site.

Great idea and yes, count me in with lecci please. I now have a target date for my winter repairs ☺️

May I ask what is the name of the site, unless I've missed it on previous posts, in which case I'll go to the back of the class!

  16. I like the idea but isn't march quite a fair way away. If we do it in early February it'll be almost like a Dubfreeze

  18. I'd like to refer my learn-ed friend to the previous post in which I stated the date is set by the 'organizer' - yeah or nay for the 5th of March ??

  20. Ideally yes I agree but on this occasion I think their programme of work during close down means they wouldn't be able to accommodate us in Feb with adequate insurance.
