TLB Winter Camp 2022 - very sarf.

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by mikedjames, Sep 12, 2021.

  1. The other day MrsNtfc was looking at us getting away around February time for some winter sun - she's thinking Cuba/Jamaica or something similar.......

I'll suggest this as an alternative:D

Perhaps we should all just camp on our driveways/in our parking spaces and chat virtually. Or not camp at all in the bus and chat from the sofa...err
I'd be up for a South coast meet with TLB folk.
There's a lot that make the biannual trip to Lutterworth so why not something a bit more local for the southern contingent?
The Midlands are convenient obviously as a central meeting point but it'd be nice to support our mates, south and north, who regularly commit to travelling a bit further than us that live local to TE, Dubfreeze as was, Stanford Hall etc?

  3. Oi, what about us Norveners ;)

I know what you're going to say, organise our own. Perhaps we should:thinking:

  5. More like 600 Steve - I am a fair weather camper anyway - so I'm out

  6. I do recall seeing pictures from these and thinking how post apocalyptic and grim it appeared. almost like a weekend away to some Siberian gulag! I considered going once but unfortunately common sense prevailed!

Joking aside (?) good luck with the venture. I was involved in arranging a couple of winter meets back in the good old Kamperchat days and we were fortunate with the weather ... not!! -5 on Houndkirk moor springs to mind with an incalculable wind chill factor. Wild camping (atop a bloody great hill) certainly wasn't our best move and the guy that suggested the location didnt turn up at all! I genuinely though I was going to wake up dead from hypothermia!

Propane for the win with propexes people!!

Can I suggest a site with hook up and somewhere warm to go for a bevvy or food. ---Thanks me later for that advice.

  13. Scooter rally weekends with nothing more than combats and a MA1 flight jacket are assigned to the under 30's, as is winter camping in tin can.
I have no desire for a Late Bay remake of Into The Wild.....

Snap! Looked like torture to me... though there is something incalculably funny about deliberately putting yourself in situations like this - damned if I can remember what it is though. Something like laughing at your own foolishness. :)

Lol, I'm only joking as you know. Hate being cold now, hate being wet!
Yup, rode from Sheffield to IOW and back about 15 years ago on a P200E. Never, ever again. What were we thinking trying to re-live a misspent youth
