Tight electric car owners

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Purple, Nov 6, 2022.

  1. Threatening to boycott Tesco for introducing a 28p fee to use their car park chargers.

Bye then, go charge your toys at home instead.

I'm not sure what people thought when they got cheap/free charging lots of employeers fitted them as they got a tax break now it's over someone has to pay.

What a liberty having to pay for fuel eh

  3. Free charging at my work for now! Irony is most (or possibly all) people who have them can well afford to charge them. How is it green to give someone free fuel and also to forego the tax on that energy. Electric cars ain’t green are they now. Terrible footprint to build and maintain and then fuel em up from fossil derived sources. What an absolute Marmite show people have signed up for!

Filled my car with petrol at Tesco's the other day. Some cheeky jobsworth stopped me on the way out and said I had to pay!

    Won't be going there again!

  5. I think all EV owners should have to pay a £10 smugness charge.

  7. They'll be charging them things a lot more often in the winter months.

  8. It was fun nursing it back to York today after the only charger in Scarborough was up the creek.

    Oi!
    In my "defence" though:
    Didn't (couldn't) buy new.
    Didn't get a SUV.
Charge at home with "100% renewable nuclear".
Will retire the battery, when the time comes, to domestic storage job.
It won't rust away because it's mostly aluminium and carbon fibre, so a good long life ahead.
It's not an electric re-hash of an existing model, so properly thought through.
Cabin materials heavy on the recycled and recyclable front.
Oh, did I mention it's 1p/mile if we charge on night rate :p

Too kind... Not quite the Delorean with a food blender reactor on the back, but we do get a nice glowing feeling when driving it.
Now we need to persuade my ol' Dad to finance the PV charging arrangements.

  13. Tesco?! We only charge ours with organic electricity from Waitrose dahling:thumbsup:

All they get now re free electric at some places and free road tax are all incentives to push the electric car industry forward. At some point they will suddenly bring in fees and tax. Anyone who doesn’t see that coming are far less cynical than me!

I know it’s a default mindset. I should get counselling really but they just rip you off!!

  19. yes but you do have to actually be cynical enough to accept there's no such thing as a free lunch. its more akin to a free heroin.. once your hooked then they can charge you what they want!
