Just too late - the lockdown came. She is under strict instructions not to leave the basement and to ensure that all food is delivered by the dumb waiter - or Pierre as I call him.

Do you still employ Olga, your Lithuanian "masseuse"?

One has to make some exceptions to social distancing!

  4. I wouldn't think she's at risk. All that pole-dancing in the evening will keep her healthy.

  6. Well in my first 2 days of isolation I've come into contact with, whilst keeping the 2 metre distance, about eighty or so people as opposed to the usual 20 at tops.
I work at a place like that. They haven't yet got on to tree partridge though it'll only be a matter of time.

  15. I have to explain phone stuff to 86 yr old father in law as if it's an old windy windy standing phone with an operator tucked inside!

  16. My mums 90 does Facebook what’s app and jigsaws on her pad and tablet , she sorts her tv play backs and keeps her house clean top to bottom . Tuff as old shoes bless her , but being alone now after a time table of meet ups and lunches with her brother sister and my sister on a regular basis . And stuff with me when I went down , which I can’t do now ,not essential as they think . I’m so glad she can use tech ee stuff , she does what’s app video time with us which lights up her face and I try and make her laugh and we show one another things we’ve done and the wildlife in our gardens . I’ve lived alone for long periods of my life but not being able to use my bike or go for a swim in the sea for fear of an emergency would have done my head in . Someone needs to look at the risk factor on some of this stuff as against catching the virus doing everyday stuff . Keep sane everyone and help one another if you can and remember you can cough with food in your mouth and choke to death , it always has been a fine blue line

My mum is very imaginative and knits.
At the moment, she is knitting a scale version of Walt Disney’s Castle. She is 86, and has this isolation thing, sorted.
Her neighbours rally round and gets her shopping for her, I go around and look after the garden for her, she’s loving it!
She’s says it’s like having waiters and home service!
I guess it’s what you make of it all.
We’re all human, we all bend and break, it’s the mind, that is the key...
