You won't get a new engine fitted for £6k!
They're from donor motors, serviced and spruced up.

They have to be stock height don't they to allow for the under slung rad . Mine is lowered 3 inches , front beam cut and welded ...certainly not by me ,i acquired it like that , so it would be new beam which i can do myself , then you may as well fit a servo on it as a new one comes with the bracket .
It's starting to get dear but if i sell my classic truck jobs a good one . That's if i can bear to see it go :(

So, for £3800 + vat you get everything to fit the motor but no motor, is that right? The website has no mention of an engine, I assumed one would be included.

Not necessarily, plenty of lowered conversions around, rads go between chassis rails not under

  7. Don't know I'm just an interested person. I'd probably go for the drive in and out service.

I'm very tempted but curious as to what the options offer aside of the satisfaction of fitting the kit personally. I guess Ill get in touch with Fellows and ask!

  9. So your curious about whether to buy?

    Buy-curious?

Particularly as it's standard engineering for Subaru, which is already set up and comes with the engine. I'm also shocked at the price, my engine was about that much.

Not whether to buy, whether to get Fellows to fit the conversion or we do it!

  13. Whats required then?
    Adapter plate
    Clutch and gearbox input shaft?
    Radiator, pipes, connections.
    Engine bar for rear
Exhaust (is there an off the shelf one that fits?)

Im reading stiff about reverse manifolds
Modified wiring loom from the car
Starter? Or do you keep vw flywheel
Blanking off stuff you dont need, or just not fitting it....im not familiar with scoobie layout
    Speed sensor on speedo?

Ive seen strengthening plates for chassis .... i assume these are for where you cut holes for the rad

Oh yeh...heater matix and fan. Not sure if theres a thermostat in pipework or if its on engine. Assume you also need a temp gauge and i guess a rev counter might be appropriate.

Did i miss anything off. I have very littl idea of what im talking about here!

  16. Shortened sump... oh yeh and engine!

  17. My Marmite the bed was about the cost of the efi and crank ignition stuff for air cooled motors.

    However,
Marmite the bed at the cost of the Subaru engine
Plus Marmite the bed at the cost of getting a bad ass T1 from someone decent these days

Basically a lot of bed Marmiteting whichever way you want to be able to drive a camper fast

I fink I could have mine rebuilt a couple of times and still come in cheaper.

I also think @baygeekster had his done because he likes the sound they make, despite the sensible reasons he might give. :)

And a high pressure fuel pump and fuel return to the tank (Fellows suggest tapping into the filler neck for this).

  20. Once the mods are done a rebuild won't be too bad, excluding the obvious temptation to mod some more.
