Looks like a great trip I'd love to see a trip report/more info, to inspire 'where next' Here is my attempt - it doesn't need to be as long http://thelatebay.com/index.php?thr...-netherlands-belgium-luxembourg-france.84557/
Had to move the camper to my parents as the garage is stuffed with land rover and the drive already has a half converted volvo v8 and the two dailies. The campers space has been filled with this... I've owned it a few years, but it's been stored 40 miles from home in a damp council garage. The kids have named him BMO (beemo) after the Adventure time character - a hint for what colour he's going to be... He's a 1978 south African import on a T plate. RHD and rotting sills and steps... I'll start a resto thread when work begins Camper wrapped up til spring
Have you ever been browsing ebay and unintentionally found something you weren't looking for, but just have to have? We did and unlike most times this happens, the price was right. So we bought it. Pics will do the talking... Its a 1976 Eriba puck. We have 3 kids with two sleeping in the awning, so this becomes their bedroom and the family card playing room when it rains. It was already jaffaorange and local too. Were due to head off ths France/Spain/Portugal next month so I'm cracking on sorting the interior. The only other issue is the towbar. JK ones are 400 quid and a 3 week lead time, so thats a no no, so I'm adapding one to fit. Its from a fiat 500 X (the fat one) and was only £50. I'll add interior and towbar pics as things happen...
The original floor was under the lino and the headlining, roof, walls are very good for the age. The main unit was past economically repairing, so ive tried to replicate it the best I can (Think it looks ok considering I'm a welder)...Just got the original door latches to fit now, and to finish wiring...and upper cupboard doors and......
Who'd have thought that a fiat 500X tow bar would fit a 1973 VW Bay??? It does! (With a touch of the old metal sticking spark maker)... Im aware its not the done thing to mod a towbar to fit a vehicle its not intended for, but I cant wait a month for the one i need. Im a qualified welder (was coded) and its only pulling a 470kg caravan so bearing in mind some of you will have been in buildings I've fabricated, I'm happy it'll more than do the job. It looks low in the pics, bit its about an inch higher than the sump and has the option to be raised another inch...time to wire the caravan for the 13 pin electrics
If only they did 10" fuchs The canvas is orange when the pop tops up at least. Ive got some chrome hubcaps for the puck
So far, so good. Made it as far as Bordeaux so far. Any further depends on the quarantene list outcome this week...
It was kind of expected, so we both have enough time to isolate before returning to work. Its mad though, as we're more isolated here than at home!. Gives me a good excuse to get my Land rover painted though....two weeks in the garage
