Its been doing my head in trying to decide on the upholstery for the paravan I know i dont want vinyl or leather I also know i want it to tie in with the paint colour I also want it to be hard wearing and practical Ive found this tweed tonight and think it may be just the ticket What do others think?
I think it would be too much to do the door cards in the same fabric? I do think one of these oak interiors soaked in danish oil would work well with it but they look very heavy
It's surprising what works and what doesn't in a Bus....you can spend ages looking at different fabrics, colours and tones, and think you've got a nice combination...put it in the van and it doesn't look right...sometimes people throw things together and it looks great have a look here for some ideas for complimentary/opposing tones
If you're going to use it off road make sure it's something durable & easy to clean. You know how muddy it can be in the wilds
I agree vinyl may be a better choice from an ability to clean point of view but the tweed does look good
Reckon that would look spot on, just make sure its durable and you can clean it. Might be worth looking into some sort of treatment along the lines of Scotchguard to make it a bit more stain and dirt resistant.
Wss^. I think the tweed will suit the van but you probably need a contrasting vinyl band(s) in there to help break things up visually... and it's easy to clean! We bought Nautiflex from a marine suppliers which is much better than the crap of the internet! The furniture block looks a little too polished (IMO) if I've understood the principle of the paravan right.... surely you should have Paul weld in several storage hooks in the back, on the ceiling and bulkhead for you to just ties your stuff and hang your wares from?!
Good choice IMO. I like Tiny-pie's idea of vinyl and tweed, especially if you are going to use it for lots of Para adventures ! Be easier to clean. For the door cards you could do something like this http://madmatz.absolutewebhosting5.co.uk/prod6.asp?ID=300&sub_cat=691&offset=&prod_id=372&grpid=372&
Mrs Pony is a ' Woman Who Knows About These Things' and she suggests that the doorcards will be better done the same. It'll tie in the interior as a whole. A bit of detailing such as the aforementioned leather patches; door pockets and piping in leather. Another option for door pockets could be bellow pockets like on a shooting jacket. I ve got half a skin of dark brown leather in the attic. Its yours if you want. Just thought, corduroy or moleskin (need to catch a lot of moles ) classic with tweed. Also waxed cotton. Could get some cotton fabric and wax it yourself. It d need weathering, there's nowt like the smell of a new Barbour, but it could be a bit much in an enclosed space on a hot summers night Some more, Mrs Pony's firing these back I m typing; leather straps with brass buckles for the curtains, old suitcase handles for the doors. Gun rack one of mine. Just some ideas bro.
