    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    Thought so.
Seriously though, nothing focuses the mind on maintenance more than not having breakdown cover. You tend to be more alert to small changes, eg your gearshift may have got looser/moved further before it finally gave way? If it was loosing a grub screw you would have stopped for a look, retightened with you fingers and driven to Bobs to borrow a spanner all with little disruption to your plans. Just saying. :)

  3. If the 1584cc pops a con rod like I've seen here, on either the T2 or T3, it will get replaced with a T4 engine...no question about it.

Gets on my wick when you run out of fuel (not done it myself but know others who have) and the recovery don't just bring fuel, surely that's much easier and quicker.

    What happened with your LPG?

  11. The LPG lost its settings, I did ask them to fetch fuel, they quoted the usual health & safety bunkum. :)

  12. I couldn't even bring myself to take a photo of our van on the recovery truck. Just wanted to throw up.

  14. Sorry to hear that Wispy... hope you weren't far from home! Is Charlie going to be off the road for long?

  15. sorry to hear this, that's a few of us this week with issues then. :(

No pictures of mine on the AA's big yellow taxi I am afraid, like @75swampy I couldn't bring myself to take the pics, though tbh my mind was elsewhere, but here's the story:
I was enroute to Cornwall when suddenly around Birmingham noticed smoke from the heater so pulled off motorway, noticing a sudden loss in power too, pulled into a petrol station off the A41 an found oil on my fan / housing / fan belt which had dripped down onto the exhaust / heat exchanger - explaining the smoke and discovered that the engine had developed a knocking sound noticeable more on idle and indeed it would't idle properly. Dunno yet what is likely to have happened. :(

  16. £20 for the parts, will hopefully try to repair him myself on Friday. It only happened about 30 minutes from home, and the AA and associated recovery truck were really quick, friendly and helpful. The AA bloke said it was the second one he'd had to look at that day!
