  1. Ok, not today but a couple days ago.....

I had been driving round and noticed the throttle following my foot ?, so as it's a bit disconserting I pulled up the mat and found that the screws were loose, off home I went and wire brushed and plusgassed them as the heads had filled with stuff, had a cuppa, tried unscrewing them and ...snap! brilliant I thought, I was going to take my kids, my missus, her niece and child to sunny Dagenham later
Wandered into the flat with a mentle list of needs, spent a frustrating ten mins untangling the extension lead from most of the bedroom, armed with drill, drill bits, and stainless allen bolts with associated nylocs and washers and an already fed through window extension lead, I set to it. Lost a spring while taking the dogleg lever off of the back of the throttle pedal and drilled the old screws out, replaced with bolts and works a treat, no sideways movement and no welding required, I love my veedub...well until it's cv boot replacement time anyway :)

  2. Took the bumpers, irons, towbar and roof rack metal parts to the blasters.
Ordered new stainless screws and bolts for the above.
Ordered new slats for the roof racks (and a spare set for Ermintrude).
    Bought a steering wheel.
Still not decided about Whale or Propex yet.

  3. stuck another sticker on

  4.

  5. Been as the cutting and welding is less fancy done a bit more on the engine.

  7. that looks amazing - is it actual carbon fibre or some kind of sticker???

  8. I can't take credit as ive been at work and the vans at my parents but today Jasper had new shocks fitted, a new steering damper. Clutch cable housing section re-made and welded in to place and a new handbrake boot fitted.

Tomorrow which I will help with will be 2 new front brake calipers, possibly have the 2nd hand working fuel gauge fitted (that will be a novelty) and hopefully the heating pipes and cables re-connected so I dont have to dress as an eskimo to drive it.

  9. Scotty dude do you still have the original oil filler kneck off your engine since youve fitted the chrome one?

Stopped to put No 1 sparkplug back in. Then stopped to put the lead back again properly bout 30 miles later.
Symptom before was high unstable Air Fuel Ratio and rough idle.

It had unscrewed the thread is still ok..

    Hey Para,

I'll let you know if its been robbed!!!

    Thanks
    Scotty.

  12. Today i have mostly been taking old paint off and applying new etch primer :D

  13. Getting snowed on, bled rear brakes having replaced pipes, sorted red light fault (knocked a wire off dynamo regulator when fitting new starter motor) and finally, tried to get some feeling back in my hands!

  14. Not taken her out of the garage because the handbrake has seized on. Oh and its a single garage with almost no room either side of the bus.

Not entirely looking forwards to sorting that tomorrow. Tried tapping the hubs with a hammer. Thinking of getting some wheel dolly's from Machinemart so I can roll her out. Unfortunately there is a slope on the floor so even that wont be straightforward.

    Oh well......

  15. Fitted one of these to my steering column.

  16. Took him out so my neighbour could drive him down to the garage to get the new steering parts fitted. Sat in the passenger seat for the first time ever because I can't drive at the moment - left leg still not strong enough to operate the clutch aaaggggghhhh.

  17. Stripped the camping interior out last weekend ready to take to J81dubs for resto next weekend. Taking the last bits out today.

can you not just drive them off - put it in reverse and go back until they crack off ?

  20. I tried that last weekend and it worked so after driving around a bit I put Myrtle away again thinking everything will have loosened off. I have a garage that is 10cm longer than my bus so I park with the front bumper touching carpet on the wall so I know the door will close. doesn't leave much room for back and forwards.

I have now got her rolling again after a lot of sodding about so have had a nice but chilly afternoon stripping, cleaning and copper slipping the brakes and lubeing the handbrake cables. Just came in to warm up before adjusting everything.

I think this is the "charm" of bus ownership.
