Similar story. ...had mine done in Rotherham hospital. .....the nurse holding my hand asked where I lived. I said Aston and got the reply. ..Oh I thought I recognised you, I've seen you in the local shop. Pain =1, embarrassment = 100

 

Yeeeesh!! makes me shudder!
Isn’t it weird though that an organ inside that you never normally feel much from at all can create sooo much pain?

 

I had to go to the STD clinic at Rotherham hospital,( long story), the nurse sticking the cocktail umbrella where it shouldn't go said, " you don't remember me do you, we were in the same classes in 6th form"
as you say VERY embarrassing.

Had an op for severe polyps removal didn't know at the time but I had developed a blood disorder acquired haemophilia. 3 days later started to bleec with the blood running into my throat, 999 into A&E still bleeding duty registrar decided only way to stop it was to push some 4" Long swabs up my nose she wasn't gentle almost lifted me off my feet to get them in then whe she had disturbed the vision in my left eye she inflated them with saline, had them in for 3 days looked like a walrus just as painful taking them out.

 

Yes I jumped ,I thought something is definitely wrong here

Ha ha .Similarly, my visit to the clap clinic. One of my customers from the engineering shop was in there, "hello mate, how are you" I asked as he buried his head in his newspaper.The doctor asked if I minded some students watch, very difficult to argue with a massive black man holding my old chap. The crochet hook down the end is not a sensation I ever want to feel again.
