    Mine.

    Trapped wind.

I’ve broken many things, had ops big and small, bust tendons, strained ligaments, been in A&E 5 times with stuff stuck in my eye (usually rust, but also paint that DRIED to my eyeball as I drove myself to Nottingham Queens), root canals, 40 stitches cuts, fractured skull.....even had 30% burns.

But nothing comes close to being sat on a hospital bed unable to move with trapped wind.

Morphine didn’t touch it....that’s why a solid fart remains one of life’s pleasures, for me it’s not just the jeopardy of a potential shart that I know @Barry Haynes enjoys so much, just the feeling of release.

What’s physically the most painful thing you’ve experienced?

And you aren’t allowed to say reading my posts on politics.

    Bugger.

I need to change my nomination.

Although thinking about it, the feelings of being trapped, with little signs of improvement and it ending very badly were similar.

  4. I have had heart by- pass surgery , 4 years ago now but that was relatively painless compared to a cyst on the internal surface my hip joint - absolute agony until there was some medical intervention with a pain killer and then some physio.

  5. I managed to snap 2 inches off the end of my forearm where it meets the wrist, it moved round at 90 degrees to where it should have been, I also managed a Calcaneal fracture of my right foot at the same time, Due to how much the wrist hurt I didn't know I had done the foot really until the Ambulance crew asked me to wiggle my toes, and I said I was. I wasn't

  6. 7mm kidney stone. close thread, end of.

Apparently more painful than childbirth (from a female nurse, who's done both), I passed out from the pain.

Burnt my arm warming floor wax on a naked cooker flame. It set on fire. I tried to blow it out. I couldn’t. I picked it up and chucked it out the kitchen door. Burning wax went all over my arm. I was in agony. My arm swelled to twice the size and looked like a lava lamp.

I had pethidine at hospital. Excruciating pain went to bliss in seconds.

Won’t be doing that again. I was young and stupid.

I broke my leg in France, tried to walk it off; was on mucho lovely morphine in the hospital.
When at home I had other pain killers - all good so far right? WRONG. I had tooth ache, and the pain meds for the leg were not touching the toothache.
I was rocking backwards and forwards on the sofa like a nutter.

Then there was the kidney stone - I threw up through sheer pain

As a ten year old, having stitches removed from my groin by a nurse who thought that pulling them out slowly would be less painful.

I've broken many bones and had operations which have been painful but nothing can compare to the pain I felt when Iniesta scored an injury time winner against us in the champions league semi final :(

  15. When I had my hip replacement 4 hours out of recovery I had the greatest pain I have ever experienced. They sent me back to x-ray to check that nothing was amiss, given liquid morphine which didn't work, so I got morphine on the dispenser straight into my arm, every six minutes I pressed the button for another shot until I passed out.

  16. 7mm, good god. Did you pass that?
I ended up in A&E last September with excruciating lower abdominal pain. CAT scan revealed 2-3mm kidney stone. Worste pain I have ever felt. Had to stop the car on the way to hospital (daughter driving) at 4 in the morning, to throw up. Two doses of oral morphine didn’t touch it. But after two diclafenec suppositories, I was pain free after an hour, and have felt nothing since. No idea whether I have passed it.

  17. Yep, *stands like Captain America on hill top cape blowing in the breeze.

Although I was medically and citrus juice aided, I didn't know it. A CT scan revealed it to be gone. No one was more surprised than me.

Fractured spine snowboarding 22 years ago - wasn’t that painful but back ache every day since.

Two lots of kidney stones - probably 8/10 but it is relentless and you keep puking from the pain and first time ended up on morphine.
I was in Glasgow for a wedding, sitting in the chapel waiting for the bride. Felt ill and the mrs thought I was just copping out. Excused myself to the loos, then after the ceremony she insisted I went along to the party. She wasn’t happy when I excused myself again and staggered back to our lodgings. Later when she came back and started to give me grief she saw the blood id puked up in the loo and me climbing the walls so got a taxi to A&E where I was treated like a drunk as I was puking and almost speechless staggering around. A couple of days in morphine followed and a night in hospital.
Lithotripsy to break up the stones was supposed to be painful but wasn’t that bad with no anaesthetic, and I suspect better than the umbrella up the jap’s eye option!

    Fractured sternum - quite painful.

Had chest pain once after I waterskied into a dock, which was either a blood clot on the lung or a fractured rib piece rubbing on the lung. Prob 9/10 whenever I breathed to start with. Never found out what it was as it cleared over a weekend on hepparin.

I currently have 3 bulging lower lumbar discs. Negligible pain at the moment but a few weeks before Xmas was a different matter. Just trying to go to the bog was the most painful thing I've experienced; I would get trapped even trying to stand up. I spent 8 days in bed on Cocodamol and Diazapam, which I have virtually no memory of. Suffice it to say my bus is on hold - might have to get somebody else to sort the shakedown niggles.
