The whole top of the tank looks strange, like loads of pin holes..maybe?

I was just about to say similar. Possibly why it leaked when parked at an angle?

  5. Well, that regulator looks new![IMG]
Do we think those screws are long enough?

    Or too long

Always good to find the actual cause!

And that’s where the fuel leak comes from !

  8. What's wrong with just using the original screws? What actually is wrong with people. Seeing this this has really annoyed me.

  11. You do have to wonder how bright the person who did that was. Not very is my guess.

  12. What kind of knob didn’t know that the fuel tank was behind there.. Ken ello_O

Even packed the screw out because the pesky thing wouldn't screw into the tank far enough. lol

    Lol.

I've had the same where someone (a garage apparently) fitted a leisure battery under the rear seat and drilled into the tank. .

To fix it, they took the tank out, put duct tape over the hole, and put it back in.

    That’s good to know
I’ve got my tank out for the first time - no monster screws gotten that close to it. Giving it a good rub down to rust treat & paint, so keeping an eye out for anything nastier.
‘Garage Approved’ duct tape repair is something I can handle...if need be

For the avoidance of doubt, the duct tape repair didn't work. Surprisingly. :D

  17. So it must have been bumping up against the tank and they knew it:eek:
The original screws ( on mine anyway) are fat little self tappers about 1cm long.

  18. Hmm, a device designed to regulate voltage into a fuel tank? I'm off to play toaster in the bath...

  19. Question is now do I weld it or stick a screw in it ?
