It's time for the refurb on the interior. It's original Westy Campmobile LHD with ¾ R&R bed etc. We'll keep the layout essentially the same as it's sooo practical.

BUT, what would you do differently if you could re-design your bus?

I have the same set up now and could quite easily lose the wardrobe so I could have a wider bed but still keep the 3/4 layout with the fridge etc.

  3. I chose my bus because of the praticality of the interior (Moonraker) but I would have made the cabinets better quality and gone for a full width rock and roll.

  4. I'd eventually like to reinstate the walkthrough on ours - the previous owner put in an uncomfortable bench seat and we've blocked the other side with cupboards. Would be much more practical for rainy days (and if we ever get a dog!). Also I wouldn't mind a full width R'n'R bed, specially as we get older and creakier!

  5. I would love to have the proper moonraker interior in mine and probably try and get the propex under a front seat if I can get it to fit

And paint my wheels orange, makes you go faster you know...;)

I'd get rid of the spare wheel well and fit the propex in the engine bay a'la @zed . It's fairly noisy when it's running so outside of the living area would be best. They do have an under slung one as well but a shelf in the engine bay is an elegant solution.

Yes but busmonkey is asking for the benefit of our hindsight. What would you change in your van now to improve it?

I'm liking the propex solution but looking at the HS2211. Engine bay & gas??

Mines a petrol Eber in the engine bay rather than a gas propex, but if I'd happened to have a propex, it would still have been fitted in the same place. I have to admit the wheel well had seen better days (I'd had been a pond - no rear glass) and that swung it.

With hindsight I'd have had darker coloured blinds, I wake up with the sun which is a tad early in the summer for my liking. And put the gas bottle in the other cupboard so I could use the more accessable one near the door for other things.

Deffo go for an under slung propex, or not have one at all. I'd probably lose the grill too, and gain a bit more storage.

Soz, I just remembered your grill is the size of a small oven and in an odd place, you posted a pic in the grill thread.

  17. My Mrs has shown absolutely no interest in the van for a long time and anounced the other day she wants a full width bed. What am I to do (apart from send her up in the roof!)

Have you thought about wife swopping? You might get a new engine or a big flat screen tv.

  19. With hindsight I would get a T5. However, if sticking with a T2, a full width RnR is a good starting point.
