I know, I worked on the design and structural aspect of a new build one in 1982/3, when I was studying.

I passed by it today, it is still standing I am glad to say.

  3. You made that massive frame? Wow. Beautiful.
At school I asked why I had to do cookery or needlework when I wanted to do woodwork. No one really had an answer and no girl had asked before so I was the first gal to be let loose in the tech dept at the boys’ end of the school. It seems unimaginable now.
I made a rabbit hutch which was Gabriel the bun’s winter quarters all his long life. V satisfying if a tad wonky.

  4. Green oak when dried out has the same structural properties as steel
@Kkkaty i did carpentry after leaving school because I was rubbish and I mean rubbish at school. fortunately I was offered YTS £29.50 a week in
Carpentry and Joinery also do Cabinet making.

I’m still learning thanks for the compliment.

Do you have a picture on the Rabbit hutch?

Not quite, but it’s a comforting belief.

How it is normally put is, steel is stronger but heavier in building. Seasoned oak is lighter making the strength/ weight ratio superior. Steel is still stronger.

  11. Sadly no. It was back in the seventies...
Here’s a pic of my last house-rabbit (of four) though, Splodge, in his fave place - riding to the shops on the back seat of my car.
We got some funny looks at Tesco.
