  1. thanks, might work, especially if I use some decent sealant under the Demi John Bungs I have used as a spacer.

I've been thinking of doing the same. Is yours hanging from a cupboard or attached to the hatch?

  3. Did you fit clear ot coloured to indicator a d stop and tail, often thought due to poor reflectors i would fited LED.

  4. Did you fit coloured or clear bulbs in indicators and stop and tail

  5. I only changed the brake/tail and front sidelights. The stop/tail are red LEDs from Classic Car LEDs - look really good, much better/even light than stock. The sidelights are warm white LEDs from the same place.

  6. My trusty Eberspacher heater refuses to fire up unless I pull the fuse and stick it back in again. Nooooooo. It’s freezing.

Out with the fault code reader tomorrow...

Sat where the engine should be and already thinking the less time I spend in here the better it will be for my health.

Unlike the vents (or above the wheel arches), it’s mostly rust free in here.

Question: Is it still best practice to take it down to bare metal before painting, even though no rust so no treatment needed? Or, can i just scuff it all up like this and paint over?

Not looking to cut corners (would only add another day to the task), but don’t want to overkill it and waste precious time - lord knows there is enough to do!

I'd just scuff that up. I did the same on mine in that area as it's usually pretty rust free.

  10. Cool Seems a waste of life making it look like chrome when I can tell there’s no rust.
Especially when there are plenty of areas to do that look like the Titanic

  11. I really would leave it. Original (hidden) paint is usually in good nick. If you bare-metal it, you know what's going to happen...

  14. At the garage in Birmingham I watched rust appear within minutes of cutting out the fridge vent holes.

This garage seems very dry compared to there - but yeah, if there is no point I won’t.
Mostly I can tell if rust is lurking underneath...then there is the odd occasion when it is an unwanted surprise.

Original paint quality is good, but glossy, so i’ll do as suggested.

  15. Just replaced complete rear lights, fairly straightforward, old ones starting to crumble inside, easy to remove old ones as most of the securing nuts were missing, previous owner seems to have used blutack to secure them, not ideal, but have stayed in position for three years.

  16. Its lasted a year and half now, no leds have died, i used loom tape on the wires as they where a bit crap... Other than that, it was the only one i could get to look good without major work
