I need to get motivated and make a start on Gusbus, I have a list building up..

Left and Right hand rear wheel bearings
Rust patch to sort on the tailgate
A section of the chassis at the back has signs of some light rust
Fuel lines to swap & new fuel filter to fit
rust spots on the gutters either side.

    Too cold at the moment!

    Up the vents now.

Actually easier than through and down them.

Metal seems pretty good to me.

I feel like James Herriot birthing a calf! Arm through the light unit probably less messy though.

  4. Fitted a supplementary brake switch that works through a relay to enable the brake lights to work with 5mm of pedal travel.. They often don't work in stop start traffic and people aren't paying attention [IMG]

  5. Cool. I want that!
I was getting flashed from behind for that reason. Brake lights worked so was scratching my head wondering why the flashing, until I figured the pedal needed to be stamped on for them to activate.

I just used this with a 30a 4 terminal relay.

I have a high level brake light too, which helps.

Massively needed to sort the switch, very very happy. [IMG]

I used a brake light switch from a Mini, no need for a relay.

Fitted my freshly painted rear drop gate this afternoon..

    Before..

    After..

Don’t think I’ll rush to paint anything again in such cold weather. It’s really tricky getting a decent finish out of an aerosol can.

It was a nice little Christmas project though.

Got to do the 2 side gates next and they’re much bigger.

If its any thing like my bus, theres rust growing in the cracks at the rear. .
Once I bought a load of those plastic gloves that go up your sleeve from a farm supplies store, great for doing antifouling on boats with the paint roller above you (stops toxic paint running down your sleeves) , or for manipulating the insides of cows.

Today I swept the carpet in the bus, let the handbrake off (bus rolled off reluctantly) to roll forward 5 feet, so the fencing suppliers can drop off my Forest Products fencing delivery tomorrow behind the bus (Ordered at Christmas on 33 day delivery , only about 3 weeks early, no time to psyche myself up to getting around to preparing the fence posts)... Yesterday managed to dig out the concrete and three post stumps on one side of the garden, with the help of the whole family, a "Grand Day Out" , and replace with concrete spurs screwed to the side of the existing posts - the rot was only below ground level.
Although we only "own" the fence one side, we would rather do both sides ourselves to avoid low-cost oafs coming along and wrecking the plants while working at minimum cost to the rental property owner on the other side...

We have watched in slight amusement as next door , new people moved in, after years of it being rental property with the owners never spending money on it. At the point the windows were about to fall out, they sold it, the new owners decided they wanted an extension and a remodelled garden. The garden remodelling has happened - its now a rubble wasteland. The first attempt at professionals building the extension, they decided to do it the same as the one before, at a similar property, without checking with the building inspector, and the building inspector made them demolish the brickwork and put in piling for the foundation. Then they knocked off for Christmas and one of the unsupported brick piers blew down in the same storm that took out our fences. My slogan for Conservatory Village - Buy one get one free...

Are those rubber bumper strips worth having? Are they self-adhesive?

  16. If You have the rivnut tool you can squeeze them a little more then drill them use a good sharp drill at high speed

  18. I’ve got similar on mine, and I reckon they much improve the look of a bare Euro bumper.

They hook onto the ends of the bumper and are tensioned by a steel band inside.

  20. It’s not as bad as I feared.
Impossible to get everywhere with any sort of tool, or hand, for scraping and sanding, so i’m hoping spraying Bilt Hamber in there then 3 coats of rustoleum will suffice. Reckon it will be easier to get paint in those hard-reach-places - famous last words.
The worst areas are ones I would think ordinarily only get condensation.
