  1. Mine came with plastic 10 years ago. I bought repop ones that didn't fit. Then ordered the expensive Hella ones, which didn't even make it out of the shop when I picked them up, as I could see through the bag they were rusting already. So I put the plastic ones back on. Still there and look great. Nobody need know.

  2. Yes, new. - £20 for a pair. I was assuming for that price they would be chrome frisbees, but maybe not.

I'm pretty certain the plastic are OG and the rusty tin ones are the repro but not 100%. Where did you get your plastic ones? I already have plastic but others may be interested.

  4. I thought the plastic ones were repro and sold them on but since found out they're stock on post '77 (?) ...
If they're a decent fit I'd be interested in a pair

You need to reuse your existing screws and the rubber retaining washer

  6. My ‘78 headlight rims are original, and are plastic.

The stainless ones would be OK. But they are slightly too small, and the hardness of the metal cracks the paint on the edge of the headlamp bowl and results in rust tunneling into the bowl.

Indeed, I already have them on mine and love them. They weren't available last time I needed a pair, I'm sure others like me thought they were unavailable.

  9. Mine had plastic headlight rims on. Thought they looked cheap (they didn’t fit or seem original to the van) so bought chrome ones.
They rusted in a year so took them off to clean up...one fell off down the road somewhere immediately (as they also don’t fit properly) Bought another chrome one so now either need to let that age to match the other or just blimmin paint them both

  11. Van fixers! Here's a top tip: if you're working under the van and dying for a pee, don't widdle in the bushes uphill of your working position. A...friend did that today, and got really damp :(

What i did to my bay today was adjust the rear brake shoes but not before having an "episode" trying to work out which way the adjusters turn. I still don't know now and i've done it already . left down right up down up left right up down right left aaaaaaaaarrrrrggggggghhhhh.

  15. Does urine do that to a gearbox? If so, I'll try peeing on mine

  19. Removed both front calipers after removing pads and pushing pistons out with hydraulics.
Bushed cleaned split, pistons removed, bores cleaned pistons cleaned, new piston seals, new seals on split case, spray painted just waiting for correct piston boots before refit and bleed

  20. If you look at my gearbox pic above your post, you can just about see the adjuster bungholes on the brake drum. Above/below them there are labels saying “OUT”. Flipping the adjuster in the OUT direction moves that shoe outwards. Same on the other side.

Can work it out if you imagine a nut with a bolt running through it. The slotted bolt head is holding one end of the shoe. The nut is the adjuster. Just got to visualise which way you have to turn the nut so the bolt moves outwards (or inwards).
