    Hahahahaha

If I’d put it in the middle, the first time I went to lean through between the seats, there would’ve been a thud, some swearing, and pieces of a light all over the floor!
Plus, I like random balance...... if I’d just had the light on the right and no coat hooks.... now that’d be wrong :D

Its over the cooker/worktop - good idea.

But when I dive forward over the buddy box to get at the stereo.
In my bus, I sometimes headbut the central position where you have a coat hook. I have a smashed light fitting there..

My choice of wax is between:
Melton neutral boot polish - it's white.
    Wax for reproofing jackets.
    Candle - white.

    Any recommendations?

  6. Might do, dunno. Don’t you have any car wax?

Must admit I don't. Not sure my bodywork warrants it.

  8. Ooh, it does. Give it a good wash, then a good dollop of wax. Then you won’t have to wash it for another year :)...

Absolutely necessary on a fibreglass poptop, or the algae will take root.

Went out to see about an MOT advisory - looked like it needed welding on the beam, so I wire brushed off all the rusty looking stuff, found solid clean metal so sprayed it with stone chip. No holes, or rusty bits .. basically rust had bubbled on the surface and made the paint look horrible.

Looked around for more rust to treat, there are a few surface patches.

Took off the pedal cover and then I remembered the throttle cable tube had been snapped when I got the bus, (I think it was when the beam was cut and twisted and the throttle cable tube must have been used as a jacking point by the bodgers) and 10 years ago I had bodged a slit stainless steel tube over the gap. Gave it a bit of a wiggle and the front 15 cm of the tube came unstuck from where it was spot welded to the back of the pedal box. Decided to fix it properly, found a longer bit of tube, slit it and placed over the two halves and tack welded it in several places to each half of the throttle tube. Painted that. Sprayed Fertan around the place. Stopped as its drizzling.

Took more time to thread the throttle cable back than to fix the break - the front end of the through fan housing tube dropped down and the cable missed it..
So I threaded some fencing wire from the back and kept probing with the tube until I felt the tube go in , and then checked that the wire could be pushed in further without difficulty. Pulled out the fencing wire, twisted and pushed the throttle cable and it popped out in the engine bay .

Love this stage of putting it all back together even when it’s someone else’s bus!

How much did that cost for a new front?

I never want to crimp anything ever again. Especially cramped in a bloody VW wardrobe!

It could probably be neater, but life is definitely too short!

All those black wires could have been attached to bodywork close to their source and single reds used instead of the 2-core. Half the wires, half the spaghetti.

  16. True, but not easily if they’re twin core cable from lamps...

    Now you tell me ;)

A light, a 12v cig lighter socket and a double usb in the headbanger locker above, plus 2 lights attached to the cupboard next to the wardrobe.
A few more screws into the bodywork maybe, rather than everything heading back to a fuse box..... ah well, it’s done. I may tidy it up with a cable tie or two, or I’ll probably just forget about it.

  19. Fitted a new spare wheel cover - a £15 (inc P&P) cheapie from Just Kampers.

Was delighted when it arrived to see that it didn't have the white "JustKampers.com" text on it. Obviously I've nothing against JK (or I wouldn't be buying from them) but I'm not too keen on offering my services as a free mobile advertising board to any company. I'd been pondering what solvent I might use to remove the offending text but - happy days :).

BTW, happy to report the quality and fit (on my 195 65 15 tyre) is spot on so a  to JK.

  20. Plumbed Ebers in up to the front.

Bunged up under-walkway heater diverter up with the plastic bungs I got from fleaBay - worked a treat.

Freshened up a couple of wheel studs that had been mangulated by tyre monkeys. Un-mangulating tool worked a treat
