Took it to local mot garage and stuck it on rollers to check brakes....all good slightly less good on driver's side so think a re-bleed in morning is in order.

Whereabouts on the beam Mike ...on the lower elbows under the suspension arm ?

  3. Another afternoon of grommet-wrangling, p-clipping, underfloor pipe flaring and surface rust-brushing. Long front to rear in. Lick of black Rustoleum tomorrow.

All vac'd-up, tee-d off to vacuum gauge on dash (before anyone points out my deliberate mistake - yer wrong!)

  7. Try finding a vacuum gauge these days...

Fitted it to see if my Dells were snortling. Might get shot if I'm bored with it. Or attach a modified party-blower

    ...and were the dells "snortling"?

  9. Close it’s gonna be black I’m afraid. But the shiny gearstick to go with it might give it away.

It was actually a repair to that area that has rotted through from the inside. I will grind it off and replace it.

  14. Changed the spare wheel.

Swapped out the rusty, original steel rim with 30+ year old, distorted Michelin tyre for a 15" Merc jobbie which came fitted with a good, serviceable tyre, the same size as fitted to my Empi 5 style alloys. Not bad for £29 delivered! As a bonus the Mercedes rim runs the same conical profile nuts as the allys.

Looking out for a new wheel cover now, preferably one sold as suitable for a caravan, trailer, 4x4 etc and so exempt from the otherwise obligatory scene tax!

Mines had similar work ...if it gets real bad i will fit a new stock beam , as i am not really happy about the 3inch cut and weld lowering .

My spare beam started off worse than this one, its gradually crossing over by just sitting in the garage. Both cut and twist lowered.

Today I put a new end on my corroded ignition lead. Seems to have got wet ..
