Been roughing the paint up and rust treating today, weathers been great, why not!

What it did reveal was the rubber filler hose from the tank to the steel filler pipe, despite being swapped in 2012/2013, has multiple little cracks all over it and the breather hose rubber pipes have not been changed and are all crumbly.

    More jobs to do!

Why is the stat you have on open up to early ? is the stat for a 16.00 t1 .
I need the proper type 4 stat as mines an early opener

It broke so does nothing. Before it broke my oil pressure sat at 42 psi at any revs over 1500. At some point, hopefully when the stat broke (I didn't notice), that went up 10psi. Moving from 20-50 builder recommendation to 15-40 had no effect so I'm after hotter oil generally not just a quicker warm up. Oil sits at 85-90 degs - too cold, I want it around 100.

I do also have a 500 amp rated 500 micro ohm shunt resistor. But that means disconnecting the circuit and bolting wires together. So I bought that Hall effect DC / AC current clamp probe. Snap it over the wire, check the zero and measure.

  5. Looks a lot better - not in bad shape at all!

How many times have you clouted your head on the snail fan ;)?

To be fair, when we did the rear valance we did a check around the engine bay for rot and found surface rust only, which was pleasing!

The fan, however, is quite nasty and vindictive, it clouts you completely unawares....and hurts :( I suppose it could have been removed but its not in the way up there, I'll have to keep my eye on it :D

The diagnostic box mount is in the same evil league. Lost track of the number of times I smacked my head on its sharp corner prepping the engine bay!

I'm lucky, we don't have one fitted. I do find the towbar can have an element of surprise to it..on a milder level though!

  9. Back with a fresh MOT, no advisories!
Spent the morning pacing like an expectant father but nothing to worry about.

Feels good to have someone else look over her and make sure everything is safe before the kids go for a ride. Not sure we'll be anywhere close to the insurance limit of 20200526_170213.jpg 5k mls this year though.

  10. Replaced the brake servo, old one was sticking holding brakes partially on.
Had freed it previously but this time decided a replacement was due.
The replacement had an adjustable push rod so screwed it in then held master cyl against mounting point and made sure when brake pedals depressed there was a clearance between plunger and cylinder rod.

  13. If anyone's thinking of using the facilities of my ignition coil, can they please call ahead and make a reservation. It's getting a bit crowded...

  14. Would advise anyone removing master cyl to have a replacement insert to feed pipe available and raise front to give clearance to allow servo easier removal past draglink
Then when refitting front belly plate drilled out self tapping holes fitted riv nuts and secured belly plate with 8mm bolts and washers

Is this a custom paint colour? As it’s pretty much the same as mine.

Ordered a new window grabber. Window wouldn’t wind up or down. Metal rail completely shot.

When it comes you'll see it's made from 2 pieces spot welded together. Add a couple of tacks, they're known for coming apart down the line. One I bought fell apart the first time I operated the window.
