It was never ending and amazing how many bits got missed on the first pass.

  2. Camper being used as a moving van.

  3. I am still procrastinating on mounting my relays, I may end up drilling

Nowhere to go, up here, anyway. :(

  4. Needs to be done. I’ve got loads of stuff screwed in the engine comp. Go easy if you’re drilling the side members - they’re thick, easy to leave half a 3mm drill bit in them

  7. That’s actually related to a question I was going to ask. I want to treat & paint my rear brakes (maybe do the wheel arches too) and was going to jack it up. Had the horrible thought of what would happen if the jack failed (as i’d likely take several days doing one side at a time). Would it topple over, in a comical yet tragic manner, like a Robbin Reliant?

  8. Use Axel stands

  9. Don’t go under the van just supported by a jack. As above, use axle stands.

  10. Good job I asked! lol Cheers guys
How high can you raise it with axle stands? Thinking if I get some then I might as well get some good enough to have a go at cleaning up the underneath.

  11. Have a search on here for axle stands. Some really good ones around for not too much, and they’ll lift your bus far higher than it needs to go. I can’t remember where they’re from.

Again, if you’ve got the wheels off, don’t get with the bus just supported with a jack.

Too high. Especially if you are using axle stands on tarmac where the surface can flow making uneven loading into a tilt as the leg digs in on a hot day..

Personally I would use ramps and lie down. Crouching under things working on them is almost as much of a pain- my boat has a clearance of about 1 metre under the hull (keel on the concrete) and your back gives in when crouching trying to use tools on the propellor and its shaft bearing.

  18. Hey Snotty... I need to clean my wiring up too. I see you only have one heavy-duty cable coming from the battery clamp, does that mean you've split it further down the cable to supply other components? If so, how have you done this? Also, what's the black unit with all the wires coming out of it next to the paint tin lid... is it a relay for charging the leisure battery?

Finally got all the parts for my solar cell refit. Probably cost about £200 including roof hatch and materials.

Two tubes of Tiger Seal £20
    One hatch £100
    Ali extrusion 8x12mm x 6 pieces £30
    Screws £20
    Wire £15
    Lights £12
    Rivnuts £5
Half a tin of Dulux Exterior Gloss paint
Square of 5mm neoprene for gaskets under feet

Panels are glued with Tiger Seal to the ali extrusions and then rivnuts go through the aluminum Devon roof.
5mm neoprene pads are fixed with self tappers to the bars, one at each end, one in the middle. The ends are bolted through the neoprene pads, the pads in the middle sort of sit on the roof.
There are self tappers at each end of the bars stopping the solar panels peeling off the bars, and down both sides.
If I wanted to, any of the white diamonds between the cells are clear for drilling fixing holes.
Ends of the extrusions are filled with car body filler to stop spiders making a home.

Yes it looks manky. The solar panels have now been peeled off something twice. And they still work. Its blowing a gale and trying to rain..
