Low comp was a tight tappet. Have ordered new (shorter, we are at max adjustment) fan belts and will check alignment tonight. Will modify bell crank tonight too.
At least the belt is just the alternator, but if you did your test without the belt, you won't have true figures and all bets are off.
Mork and Razzy estimated a bit higher. Paul who built the engine estimated 130-140 so I went half way.
Just the stock V on the type 4... been giving a multi-V flat belt design some though this afternoon.... all depends on how much of an issue it is...? @holmsen you just run stock cooling on losen don't you? Any issues with belts jumping off?
Losen has a Porsche fan set up. My old 2,4 that was in the camper, stock cooling. And i most admit, belt jump off 2 times during the 4 years i had it in
never really worked on type 4s.....so I take it there's no scope for improvement other than poly vee?
Thing to do is analyse when it was un-shipping.....if it's the same issue at the same RPM, it'd be easier to resolve
It's at top rpm throttle lift off (changing gear) where the crank will then be slowing, but the alt can still be accelerating due to its inertia
Do we round up or down on BHP figures,i.e. If it's 76.5 Is that 76 or 77? Got the belt to stay on for final runs.
1st run was 118 then we started spitting belts. Finally got one to stay on and the final figure was............. 128.5 BHP.
