  7. I suppose you are local compared to most on here, was hoping we had another TLB'er in Leicestershire but sadly not :( There's not many of us ( that I'm aware of )...

  8. I'm about a mile away from the Leicestershire border. Close enough to home, far enough away from L**cest*r C*ty fans. ;)

(Whenever I plan to come things seem to step in so I can't - the only TLB meetup I've made it after saying I would attend was the one only 5 miles form my house and Wiggie still broke down twice en route and had to leave on the back of a yellow taxi... :eek:htheshame: Still... holiday appears to be booked for me at work so who knows where I might end up if I drive North ;) )

rickyrooo1 Hanging round like a bad smell

Never one to shy from publicity here's a bit of a reminder of the best non-tlb sponsored but blatantly tlb organised event of the year bar none that has absolutely nothing to do with this forum and it's admin apart from using their bandwidth.
    cheap camping? tick.
    central location? tick.
    no vw tat stalls? tick.
    drinking if you want? tick.
early night with no mickey taking if you want to be alone? tick.
    campfires if you want? tick.
kids and dogs? - hell you can even bring the wife. tick.
advice on fixing your van? tick.
meeting your heroes and putting faces to their crazy usernames? tick.

roll up roll up 6 weeks to go for what could be the best weekend of the year.

*some of the above may be slightly exaggerated.

here again for those too lazy to read post 1 is the info.

We've had a few newbies this year so i'll start the thread with a bit of an explanation.
    What is TECHENDERS?
TECHENDERS is a meeting of (mostly) bay owners to camp and fix/learn about their van in a central location, it's a chance to ask all those questions you try to explain on here or compare your engine and oily bits to someone elses with assistance or back up from people who've probably done the same job you're attempting.
    Where is it held?
It's at victoria farm near Lutterworth http://www.victoria-farm.org/
    When is it?
It's held twice yearly and this years 2nd will be over the weekend of 21/22/23 AUGUST, you can arrive (many do) Friday afternoon and stop as long as you like (it's a working campsite).
    Who can come?
Anyone, including pets or kids - come to mess with vans or just come for a weekend break.
    What can i expect?
It's whatever you make of it, in the past we've removed and replaced engines or just helped people change a bulb, all we ask is you explain fully what you expect to do and do it early, no use saying "can i take my engine out" on saturday night..... also be aware we won't do your work for you, we expect you to get dirty - or be willing and we can point you in the right direction.
    What about entertainment and food?
This isn't a vw show, it's just people meeting at a campsite owned by a vw owner who lets us use his facilites, there are no stalls or tat it's just camping, there is usually a run to the local chinese for a feed and the local shops are 10 minutes away with a Morrisons etc. The site has a bar and a heated barn which we have the use of for a small fee if we use it due to bad weather etc.
    What will it cost?
Usually £8 a night to camp with no hook up or £10 with, this will be confirmed nearer the time incase it's gone up - we do not take any money, this charge is from the site. Electric is limited in the lower field although there is plenty in the top field if needed - you can always walk or drive down during the day.

THERE WILL BE NO BREAKFAST OPTION THIS MEET but @pkrboo may be bringing poptop kitchen (subject to confirmation)

If i've missed anything ask away and if i'm not online @zed @Baysearcher @tuesday_wildchild will also answer most questions - i'm just the fool who talks to the site owner.....

Below try to make a list of who's coming and what they want to do, try to copy and paste the list now and again just for a rough idea on numbers for me to tell Eddy.
Try to update the list with your wishes of things to do and questions you'd like to get answered about the event. I know it's hard but let's try to keep it tidy, i like to give Eddy a rough number of people coming but don't worry it's not essensial - no cash up front is needed i just like an idea of numbers.
If we get enough interested i can get draught ales put on in the bar (doom bar or suchlike).
    Cheers folks. Rick.

Hopefully myself and one other will get to this, just to have a nosey at a few busses (or is it busi) and have a chill out ,offer to hold a spanner or a heavy bit whilst someone else uses a spanner

the site owners had no september dates we could have due to paid bookings and holidays, since edd's heart attack they tend to go on holiday and care less about other people - and quite right too.
