T2 Interior Plans/Dimensions

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by ChrisandCampervanJan, Sep 6, 2015.

  1. We've just been to Busfest and seen all the lovely interiors available at their lovely prices.
Now decided to make my own having bought a SMEV sink/burner unit and already have a 2-way fridge and a 3/4 R & R bed kit.
We like the Vanwurks/RVtec style of units, all along the solid side of the van (ours is left hand drive with side door to the off side) so I just wondered if anyone had some plans already to hand with dimensions.
I've seen links to some Devon kit plans with all the parts and dimensions, but they are a different layout to what we would like.

    Any help or pointers welcome.

Not to be negative, but you need to say what it is you do want to build. I built an interior once and it took ages, I can see why the prices for bought ones are so high and so will you by the time you're done. After all that effort, no way would I pass on dimensioned plans for someone to copy - it's all in the design isn't it? N.B. I wouldn't trust anyone elses plans/measuring - what if you made it and it didn't fit?

  5. Very nice. I am really excited to get mine finished. Booked into Camper Shaq in Oct for 5 weeks of work. Everything is being replaced from interior to electrics to audio and carpets etc. It is costing a small fortune but know it will be worth it.

Look them up, they are very friendly and know there stuff.

  6. There's a thread on here I think it's called show us your DIY interiors. Check it out. Best just to work it out yourself. Measuring tape, pen & paper.
I'm no professional but I designed my own based on other interior ideas and it worked out great.

Camper interiors hmm. One should be careful one doesn't buy one from a newish company that was making kitchens before they saw an opportunity. I have one I bought second hand and frankly it's shameful in all departments. It's made from "Furniture board" sold as being lightweight = good. In fact it's no better than sticky-backed plastic covered Devon furniture except it's crap ply instead of weetabix. The wood effect covering on the board is in fact sticky backed plastic - the same board is used for the "work" surface. The covering is coming off as the glue is NOT waterproof. If you sneezed on it it would rip. If you put a hot pan on it, it would melt. The company has proudly stuck a plate on the furniture with their company name. Behind the facade it's a proper bodge job, with a drawer the size of a fag packet occupying the space of a small wardrobe etc etc.

    Just sayin. :)

  9. It doesnt matter what interior you fit....it wont be right. Make a list of what your requirements are and try and fit it in. Its always a compromise to be honest. I havent seen an off the shelf full interior yet thats designed with functionality in mind that takes up the minimum amount of space yet maximises its own volume to give you the storage you want. That said ive seen lots of bespoke interiors that do exactly what the owner wants it to do. From minimal to full on touring spec you can live in for months. The biggest factor in dictating what you have is the bed. Get that right first. Its also the most important bit too so have what you need and dont skimp on the foam!

  10. For sure the bed...the widest most comfortable. That’s where I would put my money. I have an early Westy interior and often less is more. I often travel without the backwards facing seat and fridge. The original stool can be used inside or out. I prefer to do all my cooking and cleanup outside.
