We try to be proactive. The word change has been brought back as that's how Tlb started.

There's always going to be a cat and mouse game.

It's difficult to read every thread but between us we try, we also try to be normal members and enjoy the site.

It's like reading a book, sometimes you skim through and read what you think you are seeing and therefore miss or don't pick up on some stuff.

If you see my inbox you'll see how proactive I am. If anybody reports unlawful activity on here then we act. Be it as a mediator or to ban the perpetrator. Was I aware of the it's red situation? No I wasn't. If he'd pmd me then I would be and would have helped all I could. That proactive enough for you?

I don't feel victimised, and to be fair I don't spend time baiting the mods either.

My single point is as an adult I swear, just as everyone else does.

I want to disconnect that swearing is a sign of lack of intelligence or use of language. It's a moral argument.

I've stated earlier in the post that I'm happy to abide by the no swear policy and rely on the filter as a catch all.

I'm not happy with it putting words instead of my own, does that not set a precedent where I have to rely on someone's impartiality and judgement rather than my own.

I'm unsure if then being presented with an ultimatum is the answer.

How about a middle ground, I'll maintain swearing very little and you chaps asterisk out when I get it wrong?

I was going to present my argument through the medium of creative dance and by throwing excrement in a huge blank canvas.

But some people wouldn't understand my enormous intellect.

  6. I am really good at swearing, I take as my inspiration that fine chap Billy Conolly.
When we went to see him, many, many years ago, he explained that he used the word that begins with an F in order to punctuate what he was saying. I have copied his example, learned to swear properly, in an amusing fashion and I do it very well.
An example; recently I caused offence to a little old lady on the market when I remarked to the stallholder that I, 'looked like an F wording tramp'. I apologised to little old lady, saying that I think you're supposed to say, 'homeless person not tramp, now'. She laughed and we went on our way.
I frequent another frum where swearing like a trooper is the law, I am well regarded on there. However, I can do rules and I will not swear on here again.

  7. Guys, can one of you help me? The button on the right says I've been quoted but I can't find it. My hangover is not helping but did I upset someone? @Moons @poptop2 @dog @hailfrank etc.
I shouldn't be allowed out on a school night. HELP!

I think one of the only sections of this forum without any swearing in it was " Featured Rides " and you got rid of that  Does this mean your also gonna get rid of " Can Cook , Will Cook" as well ;) then we can all move on and you'll feel that you've exercised your power

Bliley. I never knew you felt that way. Can we appoint you forum judge and jury.

I don't post so much about myself these days btw. My posts just aren't taken with the pinch of salt they were meant to as it seems to have got very serious on here for some reason. It was fun!

    ? You've lost me now.

You've asked me a direct question and I've replied, why would that make me judge and jury?

If someone states something about me or what I think it's not unreasonable to ask them to back it up?

It was going to be a longer reply with humour, but I didn't want to spend all morning posting and reading stuff that really doesn't bother me that much, so I cut it short. Sorry.

I seem to do that a lot lately. Or save myself with the 'back button' either way I seem to have mislaid the humour bits in my posts. I wonder if they're with my marbles?

I'm just checking so don't ban me, but is "*****" an acceptable word then? @dog

Edit. Clearly it isn't as its been childishly changed to a vegetable. So is acceptable? Only I noticed it had been used above and liked by your good self? I'm just a bit confused as gets caught by the swear filter, but is acceptable and likeable?
We've got no chance, even the moderators don't get their own rules!

No it isn't and thanks for pointing that out. I was liking the main post not the swear which I meant to delete?

    Good work.
@poptop2 go careful, that must be 2 warnings already; ironically, both from within this thread!

My own opinion. For what it's worth.

I didn't come on here to make friends. I came to get help with my restoration. Along the way I chuckled at some of the brilliantly funny replies and began to get drawn in. I have inadvertently made friends on here and had some great times with some nice people. I suppose I got drawn in by the understated humour and bon ami.

One of the overriding factors was the pleasantries and politeness of the place, it seemed to strike a note with me. Sadly I feel it has lost that innocence and like all things New companies, teams etc has moved on and become less, let's say comfortable. For me personally it has lost a bit of it's charm.

Swearing isn't to blame in itself. It's the context it is used in and the underlying vibe that sours it for me. Unfortunately this has seemingly deterred some of the more subtly humorous posters who from what I can gather have taken refuge on FB. I spoke to one of them recently and asked why they don't come on here these days and they told.me it was because it was all the same old stuff by the same old posters. Unfortunately I had to agree and probably thought the same before they replied.

For me it has been a fun place. And I try to keep it humorous. I can't say I come on as frequently as I did or read as much. I do try to post something every day and read the people I find funny, but I usually avoid the seriousness as it's boring. I got drawn into this one as I find swearing a turn off in humour and writing. Maybe it's an age thing, but I prefer reading a post without a celery in it!

I did like the very clever suggestion of fruit and veg as an alternative though. Ahh, those were the days.

You serious guys just aren't funny btw. Just serious and it shows.

You have to bear in mind that @Terrordales and me are elderly gentlemen and as such find it hard to adapt to change :hattip:
