Super Viking Interior help

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by gbcamper, Oct 28, 2013.

  1. I have a 79 Super Viking which has a fully original interior however circumstances means it will have to go I think... I need 3 forward facing rear seats with seatbelts for my kids.

I have resigned myself to selling the complete interior to fund a replacement that suits my family.

The list of things I want to achieve are as follows:-
    • 3 x forward facing seats with seatbelt (I was thinking a full width R&R was the only option here)
    • Maintain the walk through
    • Have a fridge, sink and burner
    • Have a table that sits 5 around it for dining.
    Don't want much do I?

So my question is - how on earth can I fit all of the above in there and still have room to swing a cat? I am thinking storage being a problem. Does anyone have any ingenious ideas on how I can achieve this?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. The super viking interior is class ,can you put a seatbelt on one of the rear facing seats?
Plus I always think its safer in an accident to sit facing away as the seat back absords the energy.
But I could be very wrong :)

  3. I hear what you're saying - I think the interior is so flexible and it is in great condition for its age - but the kids are 5, 7 and 9 and I think they need strapping in as I intend to do a fair few miles in the van next year.

There is only one permanent forward rear seat (the other is semi-permanent to get access to the cooker) and two rear facing but I think I would be looking at lap belts "if" I could get them in.

  4. Leave the wife at home

  5. use your rear forward facing fixed seat as is and fit seat belt. Fit seat belts to both rear facing seats. Thats seat belts done!

For dining use fill-in section to provide 3 rear facing seats, you have one forward facing seat - use fill in section for 5 th, forward facing seat. Doesnt this work or have I missed owt. Other option is to use the offside seats with middle infil which will provide seating for 3 install a floor mounting for an island table. use the infil between the two rearward facing seats..

Options if none of the above, or its too cosy are to scrap the interior and start again. Or..... fit a table between the front seats (island leg or westy style swivel so the kids can sit sideways to eat. Seat swivels would improve this!

    It doable im sure

  6. I have just done all of those things in my Super Viking (although I sacrificed the walk through to have bench seats in the front seating 3) and we had an oven as well as a hob - its refit was finished just last week by Starlight Campers, who did an AMAZING job. I will upload some photos for you

  9. Wow that looks like a great interior! Isn't that a 3/4 R&R? So you are sitting 3 up front, 2 in the rear? Final question - this doesn't like like an inexpensive job - approx how much did you spend on it if you don't mind the question?

  10. Its half way between a 3/4 and full R&R as cupboard and wardrobe on drivers side is narrower than a normal Devon style conversion. Loads of sleeping space.

Without the optional extras of flip down tv and oven, and vinyl upholstery on roof cushions, you'd prob be looking around the £6k mark as you wouldn't need the top loading fridge then. Includes Propex heater and speedy charger. VAT-free too as under the registration threshold :)

Starlight Campers did it all in under 3 weeks. Massively impressed by them

  11. Seatbelts fitted for 3 upfront and 3 on R&R as its wider than usual. Also seats for two facing backwards but doubt we'll need them.

  13. Brilliant! You have ticked every box and thrown an oven in there too. This is a seriously practical interior and a stunning one too! Cheers - you have given me some serious food for thought, thanks.

  14. I wil readily admit to being jealous too!!!! Where the cool box then? Is that one of the seats?

  15. We needed the top loading fridge (which is a marine fridge that gets v cold) as the oven took the space that the fridge often sits in, so the rear facing seat next to the door hides the fridge and there is a removable jump seat that sits where the walk through was, which you can move outside or at the end of the table if you want - this is also a removable cupboard.

Speak to Mark at Starlight as he has loads of ideas for space saving whilst also squeezing in 3 kids......

  17. We have 3 kids already, of which I own 1.... That's enough for me, with the dog too

  18. lol!

  19. If you are selling anything please PM me, I need an original cooker and fridge and any seats or pads with the original fabric for a 1979 viking

  20. This is the interior as it stands today. See the difficulty with seat belts with the seats as they presently are.
