  1. The only kilt abuse ,chaps is the problem a Scotsman has in fitting his (massive) "meat and 2 veg " under such a flimsy garment ! (and you can put that in your pipe and smoke it !) oh yes you can.

sorry Ermy , this is obviously a thread that has touched a nerve and i am not taking it as seriously as i should , we need convictions through the courts to really take in the scale of things - proper jobs not some whitewash through the funny handshake brigade !

In the meantime i will be reluctant to condemn anyone on hear say or newspaper reports !

i'm not smoking a jocks sausage - no way Jose , and i know its just your uncultured way of chatting a person up Steve !

  4. i agree it was 'different' back then but it was still illegal yet accepted as it wasn't taken seriously by authorities. the likes of judge pickles 'blaming' a rape victim for the way she dressed FFS!!!!!. you just have to watch 70's sitcoms to realise how sexist, racist and intolerant we really were. thankfully we've moved on since then. (i type this and really hope that we have but i don't believe it some time :( )

  7. It was a shame about old Pickles as he wanted to legalise weed ,then comes up with utter tripe like that :(

  8. i think it'll touch a nerve with any woman who at some point i their life (most, if not all women) who have had to shrug off inappropriate advances because a bloke grabbing, commenting or just being lewd was "ok - just a bit of fun - can't you take a joke - you should be flattered". i think you'd be hard pressed to find any woman who has not being o the receiving end of this. unfortunately, it still goes on and i hope that these cases with be a clarion call to all clebs and people (less face it, it's mainly blokes) who think that it's ok. times have changed and should continue to do so.

if not, can we have the revolution when it's sunny and not too early in the morning? :p

  9. by law.
agreed it is a difficult one, as it was somewhat accepted by society as a whole but still illegal - the police turned a blind eye many times esp where fame/power concerned.

the police, social services etc won't come out of this looking good but i hope that it does change things so that children and young people are safer.

  10. literally made me laugh out loud. i didn't know that about him. he was still a *bleep* for that rubbish!

  11. The age of consent has always been there, due to the publicity and the focus on historical allegations, the police forces up and down the country and advocacy agencies are now having to look at all the allegations, old reports etc. Many of them at the time were seen as malicious and dismissed, but when they are looked at as a pattern they are investigated. It has taken a lot of time for all those historical allegations, reports and warnings to be compiled. There will be more 'names' coming forward.

  12. am now thinking about other things that went on (illegally) in the past and wonder if they'll come up as cases.... specifically, i wonder how police brutality incidents there were (are?) and was just part of the times? hmmm, still hoping that things have changed and not just "hidden in plain sight" to quote savile.
...and why did it all only come out after he died???? going into the garden now to smell flowers and not think about such nasties - now, where did i put those rose coloured specs?

  14. The problem is though, it's the baying mob mentality these days that'll tar everone under suspision and link them rightly or indeed wrongly, with the Jimmy Saville case. So, an indescresion with a 15 year old consenting female in nineteen sixtysomething will be seen in line with fiddling with a ten year old boy. Witchunt.

  15. i do love how things are discussed here. differing views are interesting and we haven't had the "they were probably gagging for it" type response i'd expect from other forums.
you gorgeous, lovely people, you x

Its tlb - just wait for Rick - they would have been gagging for it he will assure you ;)

  17. 15 was/is still below the age of consent. many pedophiles believe that toddlers were "flirting" with them or "asking for it" - obviously we know that that isn't the case. arguably a 15 y/o *may* be able (mature and responsible enough) to consent but the legal line was drawn at 16 and that is and was the law.

at the age of 11/12 my friend met a tiswas 'star' and asked him for his autograph. he asked for a peck on the cheek in return. she of course was delighted to oblige but as she went to he turned his head and stuck his tongue down her throat. her first 'kiss'. not only did he abuse his status and age but *EWWWWW!* and how would any of us feel if a grown man did that to his/her daughter?

  18. ha! no, i don't believe that. i think it's a mask he likes to wear to be contentious. ;)

  19. As tempting as it is Ermi, I shall refrain from temptation and cross my eyes and legs and gag myself. Thusly abusing myself one more time.

  20. The BBC are taking a pasting and rightly so, IMHO. A wholly dysfunctional organisation, long overdue for an overhaul. They have to take some responsibility here.

Before Rupert fever breaks out, don't forget the Times belongs to him, and it's probably the best paper in the UK ;)
