  1. Reptiles. They're all reptiles. Or aliens. I forget which, but it's true.

  3. Just suspend reason, logic and rationale for a moment, and imagine if it were actually true.....How freaky would that be:eek::eek::eek:

  4. I saw it all on "V" in the eighties, although I'll admit it's possible that David Mellor is a carnivorous reptile.

  9. I think he's actually refering to that pernicious staining that you get on well-used vehicle upholstery, that's virtually impossible to erradicate with normal household chemicals....known to cabbies as "David Melloring"

  12. Indeed this is a story which goes far further than a few high profile but basically irrelevant celebrities. The net has been alive to this with related information for many years. It's the complete opposite of anything the mail or other rags might spout. They wouldn't go near it. . There have been hints recently though elsewhere in mainstream media. The Leon Brittan thing was as close as it came. Incredibly Norman Tebbit has commented on this too. Basically he was saying that whatever happened, however awful, there was always the view pre 1990s that the status quo, the established order, the core foundation of how Britain was structured needed to be maintained. It excused everything.

Are you saying that the newspapers have effectively shunned this news for years? So papers from different ends of the political spectrum, with different funding streams, audiences and agenda's have all, unilaterally, chosen to ignore this subject or worse still suppress it? You don't know much about how newspaper's work do you......

  14. I worked on a national newspaper for five years so yes , to some extent I do know how it works. It's nothing to do with newspapers reporting or not reporting. There has always been a bond between media, politics and business.....look back at the proprietors, and demonstrated most recently, in the case of media/politics, with Cameron's friendship with Rebekah Brooks and his appointment of trusted sidekick Andy Coulson. All friends together. Cameron's first job was an appointment to Carlton TV. This came with a reference directly from the palace. Cameron has a blood line to the British throne, predominantly via his mother. Don't think that our three great institutions aren't interconnected, they are and always have been, though I do think there is less chance of corruption now. Politics is there to be knocked about by newspapers , which you alluded to, and that includes the players, but the level of corruption hinted at would require a level of proof way beyond anything newspapers are comfortable with in reporting ... say....celebrity stories, which are actually just fodder, especially if those involved were In their pomp thirty years ago. Moreover the media themselves are implicated. Again this relates to the highest level. Some of the things I've been told is the stuff of nightmares....in the name of covering peoples tracks.

I have real doubts, and I'm sure much is fiction, but I'm entirely sure that cover ups, were they needed, would be entirely possible, esp 20yrs + past.

  15. Cover-ups are nothing new, but given the back-stabbing, betrayals and desire to destroy rivals, I find it hard to believe that the 'truth' in all its infamy, isn't known to a fairly wide circle of people, including newspaper editors, police chiefs and whitehall bureaucrats.....if it's a conspiracy of silence, perhaps it goes much deeper than we imagine

I've worked at one for 8 (off and on, up until last Monday as it happens) - thus I have trumped you :)

    Just kidding!

My only observation is this, similar to the moon landings - the most tangible thing about their brevity is simply the coup the Russian would have had exposing them to be fiction.

I find it very hard to believe that news media, given its different views, standpoints and funding have universally been silent.

I agree entirely that nepotism rules supreme in the upper echelons of power - but there are enough outlets whose audience is not up there, whose agenda is not on that side, who would happily stitch each other up. - similar to @vanorak's posting.

The press have done bits over the years, same as they did with Jimmy saville, and they knew a lot more about him, but here's one little story about the press being silenced

@Anaconda I've just read back through my post in reply to yours and I've been flippant, my apologies.

Having given it some thought....of course the one way a member of a particular political party would not be exposed by the opposition is for that
persons party having the same dirt on said opposition.

It's not a hard leap of imagination to conclude that certain pressure could be brought to bear on friendly to the cause press, especially if the unions hard dirty dealings too.

The web could be huge I guess...
