Steering pin replacement

  1. Hi

    How easy is it to replace the steering pin on the front beam? the beam is off the van. thankyou

  5. No its not press fit it taps out once the arm is removed

    I know mate. :) sorry all - on a short fuse this eve. The pins are steel and don't really wear. The bushes do. A kit has the pin, but also all the seals etc which is handy even if you don't need the pin. Frankly I wonder why they put the pin in the kit at all.

    Pull them out the bottom, pull them back in the top. Leave the top one sticking out a mm or so (check Haynes ;) )

    Troubble you'l have beam off is pushing the pin upwards to relieve the spring washer and get the arm bolt out. If it's on van you can just jack under the pin against the weight of the bus.
     
  9. Thankyou for the replies and tips maybe replacement is best done with the beam refitted, i best get a Haynes manual hadn't i !!!! ;)
