As for trying to judge by whether they set your horn off, it's only early late bays that this would effect and not hard to imagine that VW Brazil would not consider it important if it saved money, as it didn't matter to their buses.

  2. Thank chad. I think he has found the same type as what I got from VWH. Mine has same look and same markings and I can confirm that it is still working fine on my van.

He has posted a link to the Serial-Kombi website and it seems they have some in stock.

Given all the other crap ones out there, they do look like the best ones around.

  3. Looking around online today it appears the bug and the t25 share the same coupling

  5. Im wondering if theres somthing out there in the marine world the same pcd and size prop shaft couplings or the like?

Whats it the plyurethane part that failed or the cage it fitted into?

  6. Hi mgbman, did you ever fit power steering? Its a topic on my long range mod list for Lottie and I would appreciate any opinions.

Your not the Hulk by any chance are you ;) I certainly would not use it if it is that soft .

@mgbman initially said power steering would ruin his bus, but it looks like he may be changing his mind.
Litesteer is the best addition I have made, parking and slow speed manoeuvring is an effortless experience and there is no loss of steering ‘feel’. What else do you want to know?

..i know the BMW used steering couplers on their older models..as far as I remember they looked quite similar size to the VW ones..maybe good ides to pop in any beemer dealers to have a look and compare?

  10. The UJ off the Corsa steering column will fit straight onto the steering box, something i didnt realise when i built my EPAS, i think i may rebuild the inner column doing away with the rubber.

  11. Will the other end slip over the original column

  12. Thanks Westy, Now I have the name I have been able to find the online details of price fitting etc. Many thanks Martin.

  13. Havent checked that, at the moment mine is welded, this is a pic from when Zed asked me to check it out

  14. Looking forward to seeing this progress
If It all works out easy enough I may do the same even though I'm not intending on running power steering

No, the standard inner column has a welded bar across the end for the coupling bolts. The last time this was discussed you wanted to keep the rubber coupling for off-road; have you changed your mind?

  16. The non availability of genuine couplings and the dubious quality of the repro ones is of concern
I was chatting with Zed about this when he was up here a while ago and he may have swayed me somewhat towards a uj
After all land rovers use a uj

  17. But if the bar was ground off would it be the right diameter to slip over is what I should have said

    Don’t know; the diameter of a (1977) standard column is 22mm but I don’t have a Corsa U/J.

..hmm..thing is the other end doesn't fir the corsa column..it fits the r&p so its other way round but it can be machined tho'..
