This is ours. I'm still not 100% sure whether it's an early or a late box. Can you tell from this pic? The van build date is Dec '72 and it's an RHD. It's leaking oil - you can just see a drip forming on the towing eye.
Unfortunately it looks like a Late bay one @MarcT512 I say unfortunately as the seals i sent you are for an Early
No one will flog me an Early box to take to bits! I have got the oil seals for them, 3 sizes of which you use 2 dependent upon chassis number, but until i can strip one down thats as far as i can go
My bay is the very last to use the early box, or the very first of the latebays. I have an early sliding door, but pretty much everything else is 72-74 latebay. Where can I source the seals? Do you have a link? Cheers. john

There was a link to a scan of the VWoA T2 service manual posted on here a while back. From that (click for larger image): I thought mine was an early steering box too (as everything else on the van seems to be early latebay) - but it looks like it's actually a late box. I now believe the cutover was from August '72 onwards. FWIW - the chassis no. of ours is 2132123239, which doesn't seem to fit into the range above.
That's sod's law, isn't it. I was convinced it was an early box. The parcel hasn't arrived as yet, but the post hasn't been today. I shall send the early bits back when it does arrive. Thanks very much indeed, and apologies for the confusion on my part!
