  1. Yeah hard to tell if it's a normal flange nut or some weird thing.

  4. Oil capacity is 284ml, which means when its fitted the oil is level with the filler hole, dont over fill it as the bottom of the box acts as a sump and any filings/ crud sinks to the bottom there, normally its a fibre washer under the locknut, just there to stop weeping, whats you show is the right colour, but i have never seen them in plastic

But at least you know why it wont stop clunking no matter how tight you do up the adjuster screw.:(

To pull the arm I bought a half decent quality 6 inch 3 leg puller from Cromwell tools and tensioned it up hard with an 18 inch breaker bar while it was still in the bus.
    Plus using penetrating oil..
Remembering to only slacken the nut a bit to avoid steel projectiles.

  10. Sounds quite a task to remove the bugger!

It can be removed with the arm fitted and then you can blow the roof off the workshop with flying metal.

  12. Fitted new o ring under the big cover plate but the oil is leaking from it.
I torqued the bolts up to the same as the small square cover.
I still have the old o ring albeit slightly flatter now, is it a good idea to put both old and new in the groove to get an oil tight seal?

Or add some sealant? If so which?

  13. Put a smear of Hylomar or Curil T under it.

  14. ...assuming the top's not warped. Hylomar should do the trick

  15. Cheers, will do.
Bloody things really testing my patience!

  16. You've certainly suffered...

  18. You did cut it to size and glue it?
    Just checking :)

  19. Yeah , I even made sure the cut/glued bit was at the very top, as the box would be in situ, just in case.

  20. Why I asked about the oil....
