Now theres a point. I mistakenly bought 5 litres of the correct grade (its in the garage somewher) and it said it was for diesel engines. I put that down to experience but did think to myself - whats the blummin difference! So I assume you are saying to use it?
Fairy fluff! will have a look for it when i needs some! mind you Im chasing leaks so I do get through it!
Well noisy lifters can be down to one of three things... gummed up with deposits (this is where flushing agents come in), low oil pressure, or worn out lifters. Oil colour after 3k miles is another indicator as to engine wear... realistically as the engine has a proper oil filter, then you should be able to do 6k between oil changes... oil quality has changed a lot since vw gave their 3k service spec on the engines!!
I thought the whole Oil debate was to do with ZDDP....or lack of it: In the search for oils still formulated with ZDDP, some engine builders have switched to brands designed for use in diesel engines. However, newer diesel engines are now being fitted with specially designed catalysts and as a result, ZDDP is also being withdrawn from diesel oils. Some motorcycle oils have ZDDP at sufficient levels for VW protection.... extract from John Mayer's blog... He rates Miller's....but then again he's on a strip trying to cut his quarters....
any old sh*te's changed regularly is better than good stuff left in for months at a time...even when you're not using it in my totally unscientific opinion
Doesn't matter, all the workers are outside robbing some old lady of £6 to fit a lightbulb. Whatever happened to the local auto shop that helped you out for nout?!?
