  1. bolt.jpg I was driving along and this (attached) fell from under the dash! it appeared exactly as shown so im thinking its nothing to worry about (nut was screwed to the top as pic)

    should i be worried !?

funny at the time but hopefully it isnt connected to the steering or something.

Have a look through the hole in the bottom of the column switch housing to see if the shear bolt is missing.

  3. Spare tire holder on front through the bulkhead ,,. ? Or 1 of the 2 bolts that hold the steering column to the dash.?

  4. I’ll have a look tomorrow thanks. Nothing feels loose

  5. I hate it when something falls off like the front hub cap that shot across a duel carriage way into some roadworks

Looking at it, it looks like it was bolted into something, and the end was sticking out as it is slightly corroded at the tip.
The nut was there to act as a spacer because whatever it was bolted into only had a small gap the other side. Or it fell out before and somebody just threaded the nut on the bolt to keep it tidy then forgot it.
There are similar sized nuts and bolts holding on my plastic under dashboard trays. I just found one of mine had been forgotten for many years, since before I bought the bus I think, and it was just done up until the nyloc had just bitten, and the nut was hanging on the end of the bolt, and the tray was rattling around under the handbrake lever.

The only place to look is where the steering column is bolted to the dash, there are a couple of m8 bolts there, otherwise... Oh, hang on, you have power steering... send them the photo? Better to rule that out.

I'm thinking with another nut it might have been a stop for something.

  9. Lower bolt on the wiper motor is my guess!
